We were there yesterday at the American School of Doha. The 2012 Hispanic Fair was one of the most successful in recent years.

Been some time since I posted in QL last. Just today morning, I was at the American School in Doha for the Freestyle Aquatics Challenge. It is a truly inspirational programme.

Instructors are teaching children with different disabilities about how to swim and dive. It's a free programme. It lasts until 5pm today. Tomorrow, it's on from 12noon to 5pm.

Families and other members can also join in the fun. Go there, it's definitely worth your time. I was inspired. Here are a few pictures...

It is finally official, after few weeks of speculation, leaks and denials: Qatar Airways has landed big, and is joining Oneworld alliance. The announcement was made in couple of tweets earlier today and an official press release.

When Qatar Airways becomes part of oneworld, its customers will gain access to the alliance's truly global network. The 2.2 million members of its Privilege Club frequent flyer programme will be able to earn and redeem rewards on any of oneworld's other carriers, with top tier members able to use any of the group's 550 plus airport lounges, and its network will be covered by oneworld's market leading range of alliance fares. At the same time, the 125 million frequent flyer cardholders of oneworld's established airlines will be able to earn and redeem rewards when flying on Qatar Airways and access Qatar Airways' lounges.

Qatar beat Bahrain 74-64 to defend the GCC title in style. It was their third title-win, the same number of times as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Hi Guys! Could someone tell me how many days does it actually take for the approval of sponsorship transfer from the old sponsor to the new sponsor from the labor department ?

As per the new list of attachments for the transfer i have submitted the following:

• Online application form signed by both old and new sponsors.
• NOC from old sponsor.
• Copy of passport with valid RP.
• Copy of computer cards (old and new sponsor)
• Copy of valid municipal license for the new sponsor.
  and finally the,
• PCC

Anyone who has recently gone through this please advise.

Aspirants of driving licences in Qatar will have to pass a theory examination based on a text released by the Traffic Department before they are allowed to take the road test.

My Opinion and suggestion
Its a very good initiative by the Trafic General to introduce a theoretical test which will give drivers the importance of air bag protection, safety of children in the vehicles, driving in different conditions like rain, fog and wind and driving at night and the risks involved in using mobile phones and other things that distract the driver.

That's a huge welcome change. Qatar Stars League football to be broadcast in English. Clearly a move intended to bring in more expatriate viewers. More power to football!
