Everybody loves to go to the movies. Some more than the others. But not many want to see a documentary film, hung up as they are on fictionalised narratives which transport them to a magical world of make-believe. We all want to see a Salman Khan bashing up baddies by their dozens, and when we walk out the theatre, a bit of the actor’s character would have seeped into our psyches. We may not have Khan’s six abs, but we would like to feel our muscles and dream of those ripping ones we saw on the screen.

Ministry plans housing zones outside Doha

DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning is working on a project to develop model residential districts in parts of the country, aimed at avoiding crowding and congestion seen in many old areas.
The Ministry has prepared a uniform design for the project which comprises schools, commercial centres, parks and other amenities, a member of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) said yesterday.
The project is an extension of an ongoing plan to develop model commercial complexes in residential areas that will eventually replace the hundreds of neighbourhood stores.

The stars of the magical Disney On Ice show, Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with their famous Disney friends Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Daisy Duck, arrived in Qatar at the weekend ahead of what is expected to be an unforgettable few days for children of all ages.

The cast of 100 Years of Magic are preparing to skate out on to the ice for the first time at the Qatar National Convention Centre for 8 incredible shows from June 13-16.

Before all the excitement begins, Mickey and Minnie Mouse surprised youngsters on Sunday night at Landmark Mall where hundreds of children queued to meet their favourite Disney characters.

On the road for 20 years, Stomp has roamed the stages of the world’s major metropolises, playing its own theatres on Broadway, in New York and London’s West End.

Last night, the bins, brooms and barrels dazzled the audience at QNCC during their last show in Doha.
