The ‘ardah is one of many folk-music traditions that Arabs in the peninsula refer to collectively as al-funun al-sha‘abiyyah, the folk arts, or more simply, al-fulklur, folklore. Varying by region, and again by town and city within each region, individual traditions are known as an art (fann) or type (lawn). Many combine song with drumming, clapping , group dancingand poetry . Performers wear regional costumes and sometimes dance with props, such as the swords , khanjar (dagger), spears and rifles in the ‘ardah or the bamboo cane in some regions in the peninsula

To get the full sense of these arts, one has to see them as well as hear them. They are poetry, song, music, rhythm, dance and costume all rolled into one.

It was the first time that I have been in Abu Hamour area and realized that there is a shopping mall as well. Dar Al Salam shopping mall. How come I missed that!

Enana took on the task of reviewing the pages of Arab history, and especially of women who took part in its making.

The dance drama, “Julia Dumna,” portrays the active role of women through the ages.

The show attempts, through a mix of drama, dance, and expression, to take the audience outside the framework of time and place to feel the depth of Arab history, through highlighting the life of an Arab princess, Julia Dumna.

The show runs from June 6 - 9 in Building 16, and entrance is free.

The story begins with a rite of devotion to the sun god led by Julia Dumna.

Immediately following, she meets the Roman emperor, Septimus Severus of Phoenician origin, during the parade of his Middle Eastern army in Homs. They fall in love and agree to marry.

It was a good move by Qatar Emir making Health Insurance as Mandatory. Its already covered to some of us... but many private companies were avoiding it...

Now many lower level and middle level employees will also be happy..

Hopefully the Law will give basic or mandatory benefits to be covered.

This will be worst if the company offer little less salary to employees because of the Premiums they have to pay to Insurance Companies.
