AlJazeera Int. Film Festival-Open Invitation
By _noms_ on Tue, 26/03/2013 - 11:35amAlJazeera Media Network will hold its 9th International Documentary Film Festival next month from Thursday,18th April to Sunday,21st April 2013.
With 205 Films shortlisted for Final Competition from 1392 entries by 33 different countries, this Festival is for sure huge and remarkable.
This year's theme is chosen as “Windows” as an expression of our openness to the whole world and our lively interaction with it and therefore each picture we see in the participating documentaries metaphorically resembles an ‘open window’ to a world that is rich in art and culture.
The Films would be screened in various Halls in Doha Sheraton Hotel and is Open to Public with Free of Charge.
Personally, I myself have attended past Festivals & it’s indeed a great experience.

Open Top Tour Bus For Doha
By timebandit on Mon, 25/03/2013 - 10:05amLooks like Doha now has it's very own tour bus. And I am guessing that you can Hop ON and Hop OFF as indicated by the signage on the bus. Looks fab doesn't it.
So it would seem that Qatar is becoming more tourist orientated. I am looking forward to Hopping ON this myself.

Nation beats Britain and Iceland with world ranking of 17 among 156 countries
By Faisal Masudi, Staff Reporter
Published: 20:00 March 19, 2013
Ajman: The UAE ranks highest among Gulf countries — as well as and above Britain and Iceland — in the World Happiness Report, it was revealed during the Quality of Life conference in Ajman on Tuesday.
Out of 156 countries ranked, the UAE is 17 — the regional best — beating Saudi Arabia’s 26. A step below the UAE is Britain at 18 while Iceland ranks 20.
Denmark is the world’s happiest country while the least happy is Togo, a small West African state, the report suggests.
The conference, at Kempinski Hotel Ajman, was held a day ahead of the International Day of Happiness (March 20).

Happy HAPPINESS DAY to all of you!!

Aim:
The day recognizes that happiness is a fundamental human goal, and calls upon countries to approach public policies in ways that improve the well being of all peoples.
By designating a special day for happiness, the UN aims to focus world attention on the idea that economic growth must be inclusive, equitable, and balanced, such that it promotes sustainable development, and alleviates poverty. Additionally the UN acknowledges that in order to attain global happiness, economic development must be accompanied by social and environmental well being.

Why the sudden glut of Qatar rumours?
By Doha Socialite on Tue, 19/03/2013 - 1:45pmQatar is famous for its vast oil reserves, winning the right to host the 2022 World Cup and being infuriatingly discreet about its investment plans – but it is suddenly attracting all sorts of attention.
Two weeks ago there was speculation that Qatar was about to make a bid for Arsenal, which was followed last week by a Financial Times piece about the emirate having a £10bn infrastructure fund to invest in the UK.
Then came reports in the Times that Qatar was about to launch the "Dream Football League", supposedly to challenge UEFA's Champions League, before the weekend's suggestions that the sovereign wealth fund was looking at bidding £8bn for our embattled retailer Marks & Spencer.
Why the sudden glut of Qatar rumours?
