Woman injured in brawl over parking space
By Doha Socialite on Wed, 27/02/2013 - 9:30amDoha: A 30-year-old woman was severely injured after being assaulted by four women over a car parking dispute in the Al Dafna area recently.
The woman received multiple injuries on her face, arms and other parts of the body, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq.
Last Thursday, the woman had temporarily parked her car in front of a restaurant to place her order when four women in a Land Cruiser appeared on the scene.
They called out to her to move her car in order to create parking space for their vehicle. Since there was limited space, she could not move the car.

Qatar, Bahrain, the United Kingdom, China, Switzerland-over 25 countries in all-were represented at Georgetown's MUN, an academic platform for young people who take on the roles of UN delegates, and face the same challenges faced by world leaders in response to current global issues as reported by Qatar Chronicle.

Tourists die in Egypt hot-air balloon crash

The balloon was carrying several foreign nationals when it went down near the tourist town on Tuesday, state-run Nile TV said.
Ezzat Saad, the governor of Luxor, told Nile News that there were three people in hospital, including the Egyptian pilot of the balloon who suffered from 70 percent burns.
He did not specify the nationalities of the two other injured foreigners in hospital, but said one of them was undergoing surgery.
Saad listed the nationalities of the people on board as nine from Hong Kong; four Japanese; two Belgians; two British; two French; one Egyptian, in addition to the Egyptian pilot.

Qtel Group has changed its brand to Ooredoo
By Doha Socialite on Tue, 26/02/2013 - 12:53amBARCELONA – Qtel Group has announced that it will change its brand to Ooredoo, and that each of its operating companies in emerging markets across the Middle East, North Africa and South-East Asia will adopt the new brand during the course of 2013 and 2014.
These companies, in which Ooredoo already has a controlling interest, include brands such as Qtel in Qatar, Indosat in Indonesia, Wataniya in Kuwait, Nawras in Oman, Tunisiana in Tunisia, and Nedjma in Algeria.
The announcement was made by Ooredoo Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani at a special launch event at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.

Annual Career fair for Qataris in London
By Bila Safar on Mon, 25/02/2013 - 12:58pmDoha February 25:Qatargas has participated as a ‘Silver Sponsor’ at the 6th Annual Career Fair for Qatari Students organized in London by the Qatari Embassy in the UK. The event held on 22nd and 23rd February attracted over 100 students studying at various universities and colleges across the UK.
The Qatargas delegation to the Career Fair included Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani, Chief Operating Officer, Engineering and Ventures, Abdulaziz Al-Mannai, Human Resources Manager and representatives from the Company’s Human Resources and Learning & Development departments.
His Excellency Khalid Al-Mansouri, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United Kingdom officially opened the event on 22nd February at the welcome reception.

Doha Investment Company whopping $12 Bn

Of the $6bn paid up capital, Qatar Investment Authority’s (QIA) foreign investment arm Qatar Holding will spin off $3bn and the remaining $3bn would be raised through public offerings as reported by Qatar Chronicle.
The details of Qatar’s latest big ticket overseas investment company, which the Supreme Council of Economic Affairs and Investment decided to set up in its February 10 meeting, was disclosed by a top official of Qatar Investment Authority in a meeting with Qatari businessmen at Qatar Chamber here yesterday.
