Yes, I did. Got some stuff over the internet from USA. You need to have P.O.Box issued by Aramex in USA where the delivery happens, and then Aramex collects it and ships it over here. I am not sure of the process now, as i used my colleagues P.O.Box to ship my items. Call them up and check it. I however had no issues with the deliveries. Yep we use it. We shop on the internet, have stuff shipped to our Aramex PO Box in New York, and they ship it here to Doha. It costs about 39 Riyals for the first 1/2 kilo and 37 riyals for the additional 1/2 kilos. Sometimes takes 1 to 2 weeks for your things to get here, but it's worth it if you can't find something you want here in Doha. Answered on Sun, 17/08/2008 - 3:06pm

I'm not sure if the procedure has changed since 2005 but what I did when I shifted from my apartment in Najma to a new flat in Airport area, I went to Kahramaa office, and told them that I want to cancel my electricity/water connection. I showed them my ID and the receipt of the deposit. A Kahramaa representative went with me to my flat in Najma, did a reading and disconnected the electricity & water line. We went back to Kahramaa office and the cashier processed my refund less the current unpaid bill. Everything done in one morning. Why wasn't Doha short-listed. Check out the following IOC report challenges Doha will experience: 1) Population: 140% population increase by 2016 make it difficult to build enough infrastructure in time; 2) Venues: Implies that more Doha would need to focus more on international attendance/publicity that didn't happen yet; 3) Accomodation: Not enough hotel rooms, not enough low-cost accomodation. Doha promised to use cruise ships but these were questioned. 4) Transport: OK but public transport is new to "automobile-dominated society". 5) Security: OK. Hi Kev1823! My kids are due to start there in September. Like you, I'm a Brit and was keen to get my kids into a Brit school. I've been in Doha for 4 months now and have asked many Brits about this school. The feedback I'm getting is pretty consistent in that it's a good school. In particular, people are pointing out that the Principal is a veteran in teaching at schools in Doha that are based on the British curriculum. She's been teaching in Doha for about 30 years! I've visited the school, and it's stunning for a school. It's a far cry from the depressing Victorian era schools that most people of our generation went to. The DMBS is set to have the best facilities for a British school in Doha. However, I'm not in a position to comment on the teaching standards as I too haven't got any experience of this yet either. A very good thing about the school (as opposed to the most over-suscribed British school, DESS) is that it caters for kids in classes higher than Grade 6. Good luck with your research! Well it is a bit confusing. There is DMIS which is Doha Modern Indian School and there is MIS which is Modern Indian School. The MIS is affiliated / sponcered / (dunno what) to Delhi Public School. For Shop N Ship , the freight charges would be as below : First 500 gms - QAR 31/- Transit Time US - 4-5 days. Shipments arrive 3 days a week - Saturday, Sunday & Tuesday. You will be intimated by SMS of the shipment arrival and you will need to goto Aramex to pickup the shipment. If need to be delivered, it will be arranged the following day. Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Doha has had a very poor human rights record over the years. Human rights abuse cases are abound and need no mention. Child camel jockeys were replaced by robot jockeys just a couple of years ago. Besides, just take a look at living conditions of laborers that speak for themselves. Dearth in public transportation (such as metro system, subway etc), and attractions, and incredible rate of inflation among other things are the main reasons of this rejection. With DohaBank you have 2 way of sending money to any bank in India, first thru over the counter transaction from any branch of Dohabank, and thru online e-remit transfer using the DBank Online system,the latter is giving you a more "competitive" rate as compared to OverTheCounter transfer.
