Seriously: computers know only 1 and O (respectively +5 Volts or 0 Volts) A 1 is a bit, a 0 is a bit, too. 1 kb are 1024 bits. (That is because computers use a binary system on the base of 2) Now 512 kbps would be 1024 times 512, and that equals 524288 bits per second. So every second the line transfers 524288 Ones or Zeroes if nobody else is using the same connection. Otherwise the transfer rate will drop. The total bandwith is shared.
Yor movie or picture or document is transmitted in Ones and Zeroes. It does not matter what the computer reassembles once it has got all the data. For the line it's only Ones and Zeroes. Got it now?

He meant is it downloaded as Music [.mp3, .wma], Videos [.avi, .mpeg] directly? or it would be a torrent file? That is what I understood, guess the question was placed wrongly ...

Okay, one more time: i t i s o n l y Ones and Zeroes. There is no mp3 or wmv or mpg that can be transmitted as such. The computer which receives the data turns the Ones and Zeroes into mp3 or whatever because it is told by the sender what kind of file the Ones and Zeroes represent!

Digital signal means zeros and ones ;but you are only 00000000.s Dragon
To john here download means all the things you accessed from internet including web browsing .but downloading moves will take more bandwidth.
