As the smoke subsides it is time to ponder over the reasons for fire to happen even in a world renowned luxury complex like villagio. "Engineers" hired are often just fresh graduates with little or no experience who join just to learn the ropes and gets less than a driver's salary. And this tells on the work quality. Fortunately Qatar prescribes uncompromising international accepted standards for all construction aspects, but it is easy to overlook things in this period of frenzied construction boom. But as the foreign contractors are likely to have least commitment to the quality of their work rather than passing their bill, it is incumbent on the government to give this more attention to avoid such further mishaps.
