Indian Brothers

Indian Brothers

(Follower of the other religions please avoid personal or derogatory comments may be it is some orthodox ritual)

Why does the bride on her first entrance to her new home, dip her feet in dish filled with red water and walk bare feet on the floor of the house, and kick a bowl of rice at the entrance?
What do these two rituals symbolize and their name please.
Thanks

Though I wonder why you want to know about only these specific things about India, but yet respecting your eagerness to know about the cultural practices in the world, here are the answers to your questions:

These practices are the part of post wedding ceremonies followed exclusively in Northern India.

(1) The bride after dipping her feet in the red water which is called the holy water, she enters into her husband's home with her right foot first symbolises auspicion . Because the color Red stands for these things.

(2) She hits the glass of rice and spreads it all over the house symbolises with her presence, the bride will bring richness, prosperity and unity in the family.

Hope I have answered your queries.

regards,
