What should I wear to a formal event?
I will be in Doha mid November for a boat race organized by the Sheikh. My husband and I will attend a formal event. He has been told to wear a suit and tie. I have been told to dress conservatively. Please share your thoughts about what would be appropriate for a female from the US to wear to a formal event.

Maybe the same suit, with a light jacket and trousers or skirt, but skirt longer then your knees. There are lots of suits of light colours with you can accesorize with elegant scarf, sunglasses, belt or hat etc. Answered on Thu, 05/11/2009 - 5:05am

It might be a bit windy for a skirt...so you will always be concious of whats on display... Its better to wear linen trousers or something similar with a smart shirt. Answered on Fri, 06/11/2009 - 1:26pm
