Its not gonna be like going to a match back home mate, no pubs to go to before the match. Drinking is only allowed in your home, if you have a liqure licence and you will need ID to get into any of the hotel bars. Best you book into a wet hotel so you can have a couple before going :-) Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 5:50pm

A few answers here make me wonder if the people concerned even live in Doha! Locals don't drink? What effin planet you on dude? Some of the locals are probably the biggest pisscats - seen one puking his guts out at the Ramada a few months back - and it was NOT bad prawns. And know of a good few who wrote themselves off driving drunk. And whoever posted the first answer - get a life moron! Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 8:15pm

Ok yes, I am sure the Qataris will be overjoyed to sit about drinking with the English football fans. For goodness sake, the locals do not go and sit in pubs (which is what this person was asking) and drink beer then go and watch football. It is one of the many reasons that I live here and not there. Cheapest place to get tanked up is the Qube but it'll cost you 80 notes to get in. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to take along your passport as ID. Alternatively, befriend several members of the Rugby Club, buy them drinks all night and you'll still save money....... Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 5:38pm

You can get into the Sherherazad at the Ramada Hotel by showing your entry stamp on your passport (means you have to carry your passport withyou). Beer is 28QAR per pint - not the cheapest but one of the least expensive venues in Doha. The Rugby Club is cheaper but you have to be signed in by a member. Locals are not "supposed" to even want to drink and now (instigated in just the past few months) no one in "national dress" = thobe is allowed entry into a bar. You will not be able to buy alcohol of any kind at any of the sports venues. hope that helps (I know it's going to hurt!) Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 6:18pm

I can guarantee you that none of the hotel bars will let in visiting non-residents on the night of the game. Visiting fans do yourself a favour and book into a hotel with a bar (suggest Ramada only good sports bar) Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 7:28pm

Best palces to drink are either the Ramada or the Sheraton (Irish Harp)...prices are 36QR per pint, nowhere cheap to drink unfortanately....one of the drawbacks of this crap hole of a country.... Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 5:07pm

Plenty of Beer ....No fear. All the big and small supermarkets carry lots and lots and loads and loads of Beer. It is pretty cheap too as one of the guys in the loop said 1.50 to 2.50 tops 3.00 Moussy and Barbican are the favorites. The downside is that you can't drink too much of beer with upside being that you remain sober all the while... All the Beer sold in Qatar and Saudi Arabia ... supermarkets and shops is NON ALCOHLIC.... Enjoy the Game... Answered on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 8:26pm
