Driving from Dubai to Doha

Dear All,

I would like to bring my car from Dubai to Doha. I enquired with a couple of companies and the cheapest to ship the vehicle to Doha costs about QAR 8,000/- (including customs fees). I was thinking of just driving it down to Doha to save around 3500 to 4000 QAR (shipping charges). Can anyone let know how the driving conditions are? How long does it take approximately including customs.

pay the extra.........less headache! lol u have to drive into saudi & its a pain in the azz. The immigration on the border are very mean & not helpful at all....goodluck..btw try the Iranian shipping company they are very cheap :-D

Thats ridiculous, my friend paid 1000$ usd to ship his car here from the usa.

i paid the following:

3000 AED for the recovery truck
900 AED border fees
5% import tax (whatever the customs captain thinks your car is worth)
75 AED for testing the car in Doha
500 AED for registration with plates at the police

trucking needed only 36hours.

be prepared for some funny things at the testing center (in my case the car failed because of a missing battery holder - despite not having one in first place) and check yout fire extinghuiser - if its not a frsh one, buy a new one...
