hey dont worry my son started walking at exactly 15 months just one day out of the blue he started doing situps and by the end of the day he was walking and by night running, boys are usually slow anyways...but a walker will not help in fact will stop the babys confidence cos he/she gets support all the time...try not to give the walker at all if possible...cheer the baby and dont push ...all will be fine and if ppl bug you abt ur kid being late then just tell them off as every kid takes their own time but it seems everyone else does not have the patience thoh its not their business...good luck and just wait and enjoy this time since once he starts running their will be no peace for you running after him picking up things...ha ha...

your baby is fine - first, don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. So long as he is healthy (from your Doctor) he is figuring it out on his own.

I can't stand people who tell parents that their baby is "behind" - there is no behind, there is careful thinking and working it out - some babies are just more comfortable with creeping or more comfortable with walking - goodness, he's an individual, not a prototype!

does he give good hugs? That's the most important thing.

Dont worry. It is not so late. Try to spend more time with your baby and encourage him by holding his hand. It will be alright.

Wait another month, he'll be running. If not, at 13 months take him to your pediatrician.

All babies are different, I wouldn't worry to be honest. My son didn't walk until he was 16 months and now he runs everywhere! My son goes to a baby group and all 6 babies didn't walk until they were 15/16 months. I know of other babies that didn't walk until they were 22 months! So... sit back and relax, because the moment your baby does walk, you'll be running around him constantly :-)

Relax. Some kids do it at their own pace. Only after a certain time period has lapsed and he is not progressing should you go into "panic" mode.

Believe me, once he starts walking, and then running around, you will wish the pre-walking stage had lasted longer.

Dont worry the normal age range when a child starts walking is 9 to 15 months, and most children start walking between 13 to 14 months.

Even if your child on his 14 month cannot walk, but can crawl, sit, stand, there is no cause for concern.

Walkers are definitely NOT recommended, because babies tend to rely on them too much. As a result, their upper leg muscles don't develop as well as they should, and this could lead to a delay in the development of the walking milestone. In addition, each year there are around 200,000 injuries sustained by children due to walkers, and around 30,000 of these injuries are severe - they include fractures, dislocations etc.

Canada has banned the use of walkers, and the American Medical Association and various other organizations have proposed a ban on walkers in the United States. DON'T get your child a walker.

Don't make your child wear shoes indoors. It is easier to learn waking barefoot.

When holding your child while trying to make him walk, don't hold his legs or hands. Hold him by the torso.

Try and encourage your child to develop by calling him to you, or placing a chocolate piece just out of reach, so that he crawls towards it.

Make sure the floor is not too slippery, as your child may not find it easy to balance on such a floor.

Where do people get this damn idea kids should start walking when they turn one year old??!

Because your baby is one year old doesn't mean she/he should be able to walk because other kids his/her age walk. Each baby grows in its own rate and there is really no need to hurry your baby unless you see a serious problem.
Up to 18 months your baby has time walk.If she/he is over 18 months and still not walking I would suggest consult doctor.

People like to ask stupid questions to make others worry, like to compare kids. But this is all wrong!!

In my country we are said not to use walker because doctors claim that walkers can delay baby's walking.Well my friend's daughter used walker and she started walking before she turned one year and my other friend's daughter used walker too and she did not walk for pretty long.

My daughter is 15 months old.Only recently she got her courage up to walk a little without holding any furniture. Before this one friend was making alarm on the phone why she was not walking yet??!Now my daughter with her own rate and confidence walks more and more every day.She is smart, taking her time to improve new skills. And that is how it should work.
Do not let others to ruin your happiness.

Walker is not the recommended toy for children now a days. leave walker and try to stand him up against other things. In walker only his leg muscles will develop but for walking his hip's muscles should also be developed so therefore forget walker.

Stand him up against bed or table's corner in your supervision. Let him balance in his way, place any his fav thing in front of him and let him grab.
