house contract

house contract

one of my freind is taken a house for rent from qatari as a one year contract by giving 11 cheqes now four months completed she wants to leav that home but the owner asking to pay remaining cheqs or money or else he will compaine to police station.
because of contract she is confused. there is a any option? Owner is not ready to return the cheqs.and her huband got company acomodation he should join as soon as possible.

I think you have to check the contract once more...if there is anything mentioned regarding breaking the contract and its compensation. Normally in every contract it will be mentioned one month rent as compensation for breaking the contracts.

THe landlord has no right to ask for complete remaining periods..but he may can ask maximum 2 months rent...but see to it its one month rent...

Alqatariya, sorry but normal lease contracts in Qatar mean you pay the full contarct period. Unless you can offer the landlord an alternative tenant, you are basically screwed. 12 months contract means you pay 12 months, even if you move out after a day.
