Lift out of order for almost 5 months

Lift out of order for almost 5 months

Hi all,
I'm residing in a compound apartment. There are 5 buildings in this compound. The lift attached to my building is out of order since January. When ever I inquire about this to the Manager responsible for this compound, he gives very lame replies. He says it will be ok in 10 days. Now its almost 5 months. But he stills gives the same answer.2 weeks back few guys from the lift maintanence service came and completly repaired the lift. But they have removed the mail cable since the owner has not yet settled their bill. The owner of this compound also owns a prominent hotel here in Doha. Can anyone please tell me what legal action i could take regarding this issue? Thank you in advance.

I certainly dont know what action can be taken

But i was in the same boat as you and understand your problem.

At last we shifted.

One of my friend suggested, you can send notice to your manager, but that notice should not be simple letter or email. Its a stamp paper you get in post office. The importance of this letter is the receiver should reply and if not replied its an offence.

Court will also consider this letter only.

But who wants to go thru all these hassle right? Just do these.

First visit post office and mail one letter. The manager will be alarmed.
If nothing happens shift to another place (without panalty/fine - this part should be written in the above letter). Assuming court is hassle.

Hope you get peace asap.

get a lawyer, in my country you can reduce the rent as the value of the apartment is less without lift

Make your complaint official just like what the others said so that when you shift, there is no reason for the landlord to hold you back with rentals.
