There is definately something behind it. I mean think about it. Qatar was ranked third highest. Chicago was ranked third lowest! THey usually pick 5 countries but this time they decided to pick 4. That means that either a country didn't meet requirements (which Qatar did) or had an extremely low score (which Qatar didn't). I think it's a matter of stereotyping and low expectations. I mean even the news companies got alot of the facts wrong! I highlighted a bunch of facts on my blog. What do you think Qatari? http://blog.oxygen-i... Answered on Wed, 04/06/2008 - 8:50pm

There is no way you can survive with that amount if your company does not give you an accomodation. Even after the company gives you an accomodation, with 2500, it would barely be hand to mouth with zero savings (at times a loan also) Answered on Wed, 23/07/2008 - 11:28pm

A decent 2 bed room accomodation in Doha would cost QR 7000 to 8000 ( though you can get different 'levels' of accommodation for different prices ) .Therefore If accommodation is included in your salary I suggest you consider the housing rental mainly . You can get a decent car leased out starting from QR 850 upwards , I guess. Answered on Thu, 07/08/2008 - 9:09am

NOC cannot be demanded as a matter of right, it is the discretion of the sponsor/management. You said that you are working in another firm while holding the sponsorship of your current sponsor. Whethere, there is an agreement attested by the Labour Department? If it is not, it is illegal. As regards bonus, you cannot claim it, it is again at the discretion of the management unless it is specifically written in your contract. In that case you may report the matter to Labour Department. Gratuity is your right if there is no disciplinary cases pending against you which may forefiet your claim. You are eligible for 21 days gratuity as per your basic salary per annum. In case of fraction of the year, it will be calculated proportionately. Answered on Sun, 10/08/2008 - 1:40pm

Yep, it works. We shop on the internet, have things shipped to our PO box in New York, and Aramex ships it here. As far as shipping rates go, they are the cheapest. Sometimes takes 1 to 2 weeks to get your things in, but it's worth it of you can't find something here in Doha. I think it's 37 Riyals for the first 1/2 kilo and 39 Riyals for each additional 1/2 kilo. I may have the prices backwards. Answered on Sun, 17/08/2008 - 3:03pm

Mothers are not eligible to apply for sponsorship of their children, only the Father can do that. As for your case, your husband can sponsor your child. Requirements are: after delivery, get the "green card" from the Nurses and bring it to the NHA (beside Lulu Center) together with your Marriage Certificate. He will fill up a form for that and specify how many copies of BC will be needed. Apply for a PASSPORT for the baby. Secure a passport of the baby from the Embassy. After a week, you can get it (BC) from the CID office (because you are not under your husband's sponsorship), and before you can get the BC, you need to bring and leave a PASSPORT (original) as a guarantor(in case the immigration denied your application, the only way for you to get the passport is by presenting a plane ticket of the child bound to your country). Once you get the BC, get a form from the Immigration in applying VISA for newborn baby in Qatar (take note...there are other VISA for children, you have to be specific). Get your baby's picture with Blue backgroud (tell the studio photographer that you need it for VISA). Proceed to Al Gharafa Immigration (the closest is behind Woqod tank in Industrial Area, near MES Indian School-they are more considerate than in Gharafa) and bring all the documents (BC, passport, picture, Green card with blood group, pataqa and passport copy of parents). Wait for the approval. If approved, congratulation. If not, proceed to the other immigration (Gharafa or Industrial). My wife is not under my sponsorship, same as my sister, but both my daughter and niece were born here and we have no problem. Good luck... Answered on Wed, 27/08/2008 - 3:33pm

Hi, firstly, in my humble opinion, I think your husband's salary is abit low. If accomodation, transport/car, bills and all are included. Think is still on the lower side. But quite a good wage over in Qatar though. If you got kids, do they provide a full cover like childcare, medical and education? Some nursery can hit as high as QR2000 to 3000. Hope these helps Answered on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:19pm

Yes, I did. Got some stuff over the internet, on Amazon.com from USA. You need to have POBox issued by Aramex in USA where the delivery happens, and then Aramex collects it and ships it over here. I am not sure of the process now, as i used my colleagues POBox to ship my items. Call them up and check it. I however had no issues with the deliveries. Cheers Answered on Sun, 17/08/2008 - 11:55am

It is very simple. Go to the D ring road Kaharama office. Take the meter reading for both Electricity and Water. Take the deposit reciept. If you are goind to handover to another person, take the ID copy alongwith you of the other person and tell him to accompany you. The deposit cancellation is done over the counter. If you are going to surrender the flat to the owner, take the meter readings and tell them. One guy from there will come and disconect the electricity and will inform the office.( it is immediate) and then you collect the deposit immeidaitley. The best time is on Saturdays - no rush. Typically, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) selects the top scoring bids based on questionnaire responses and IOC investigations. They choose bids that are over a determined "benchmark". However, this time the IOC changed the rules and eliminated Doha, a city that was almost tied for third and ahead of another accepted bid. Doha's weaknesses were a small population, lack of facilities and planned Games dates outside of the IOC's desired window. The IOC may have considered one of these obstacles to be too large to accept. Reference: Answered on Wed, 04/06/2008 - 9:02pm

I thought I had answered this, but something must have gone wrong, cos I do not see my post. Anyway, I recommend you see a dermatologist. It depends ofcourse on the extend. If just lightly make up will cover it. For more you might need cortisone etc. But check with the skin specialist. Go see Dr Hassan Abdulla, his clinic is on the D Ring from the mall towards the a'port on the right before you get to the a'port. Theu have a big sign on the building. He will sort you out. Good luck Answered on Sat, 12/07/2008 - 3:27am
