There are places in Souq Waqif which sell fishing stuff. If you were coming down the main drag from the square they are on the outer edges of the section on the left. . . . beyond the shoe menders and tourist shops.

I would suggest that you buy a cheap rod and reel at Carrefore and then go elsewhere for your tackle.

I'm not very good at directions but if you head to Al Khor on the beach road highway, the one that goes past Lusail, at the last traffic circle before you hit the 120km/hr stretch there is a petrol station with a small shopping precinct.

I bought tackle, a light rod, weights hooks etc, from there on Monday.
