A authentic batik, that is the hand made using wax printing techniques is hard to come by. Most of the stuffs you see nowadays are machine produced, which technically make them a normal textiles with batik motiffs imprinted on. For the truly authentic Indonesian Batik you can go online to Danar Hadi (www.danarhadibatik.c...) and Iwan Tirta (www.iwantirtabatik.c...). They the two most famous batik artist in Indonesia. Make sure you specify 'hand made' (Batik Tulis) as both may also carry machine printed batik. Be warned that their price may be higher. But that's come with quality....
