Visit visa- return ticket can be booked in another flight or not?

I am planning to bring my wife in visit visa. I know she needs to have a return ticket, can we book this return ticket in another flight other than the one she is coming to qatar?

is a return ticket actually necessary??? because i am planning to get my wife on family visit visa and during her stay itself (6 months) apply for family visa (RP) so return ticket for my wife will be an unnecessary expense....

Experienced QLérs please advice.....

It is mandatory from Indian airports to show the return ticket at the emigration for those who travel to gulf on visiting visas. At the time of booking the tickets at travel agent, he would advise you to go for return ticket with out which he will not book one way alone.
Booking a dummy ticket is also in force, check with your local travel agents.

You can have 2 different airline tickets for your to & fro trips not necessary same airlines.
