I've just spent some time looking through the classified adverts on Qatar Living. Wow! I've got to say, it is amazing. Browsing through the adverts you'll be able to find all sorts of gems like:

• furniture and baby goods

• a yard sale in Doha
• special number plates for your car (if you're into that sort of thing)
• model helicopters
• iphones
• a new place to stay in Doha
• a nice shiny BMW

So if you haven't went bargain hunting yet, visit the classifieds page.

How is this for some journalism school humour. The Peninsula thinks that "Southwestern University" is coming to teach reputable journalism in Qatar. From their 2007 – A year of achievements for Qatar article:

The Qatar Foundation ... announced its latest entrant to the Education City-the US-based Southwestern University which will offer its reputable journalism and communication programmes beginning this year.

I hope someone at Northwestern University takes note of this - maybe they can offer the journalists and editors who worked on the article some geography lessons when they open in Education City to teach journalism ;)

Sitting at the farm at 2.30pm, wondering if anyone will come to the coffee afternoon, then by 3.30pm wondering if we have enough dogs to go around for the walk......so many people came to visit it was heartwarming to see.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me - the welfare of animals spans every nationalitlty - it it one cause that people join together for!!!

I wandered around,, spoke to lots of people but most immportantly, listened - everyone had a story, an experience, a concern - we all had something in common, our love of animals and a desire to help were we are needed.

Crazy...it seems that someone created a replica map of the AlJazeera Newsroom (the Doha one) and posted a video of the Marines shooting it up.

Wow.....where does the time go? It's ages since I got onto this!!!

Sadly nothing changes, as the months go by things become more frustrating. I made a decision to close QAWS, simply a financial one, I could no longer afford to support it from my own pocket, I was being critisised by small minded people and it was all too overwhelming.

Yeah right I could stop - although closed I now find myself running the 'un-official' QAWS. Where else are these poor animals supposed to go? Qatar Pets is taking off and with the support of that group I am coming back up! Still not enough money to support these un-fortunate ones but so many more people trying to 'do their bit' - money is not everything, yes we need it, but the support is just as important!!!

We are constantly called to 'deal' with dogs that have been abused, abandoned, some we get to in time, others suffer from car accidents, starvation, dehydration - sadly we can not always get there!

Despite the heartache that goes hand in hand with this work, we keep persevering......doing what we can, where we can!!!

Some of you may have noticed the quiet re-launched of long loved feature of Qatar Living - Upcoming Events in Qatar.

Even though there are all kinds of great things going on in Qatar, finding out about them can be a challenge. By now all of you have probably heard about the Americans accidently dropping a patriot missile on a farm in our dear Qatar. How the most sophisticated army in the world can "accidently" drop a missile is beyond me...Perhaps it was heading somewhere else and failed?

The one thing that no one has raised yet is that apparently Bush and Blair had previously discussed bombing Qatar previously - specifically the AlJazeera Headquarters in Doha.

Cue the X-Files theme song...

Qatar Living, the most fun and addictive social network in Qatar has just turned two (2) years old! I can't believe it has been only two years that we have been online together!

I just wanted to say thank you all for making this such a great, fun and informative place. Qatar is definitely a richer place because of it.

Let's make next year ever better!

I'm stressed out, mad, pissed off, got so much work to do, and just generally hating the world!

So what do u do on days like these to fight the urge or either killing someone, commiting suicide or running away with some cute Peurto Rican to a far away isolated island and end up fishing for the rest of ur life ??

I'm out on holiday for a bit so if you don't get a response from me try sending a note using the contact form and someone will get back to you...

I recently came back from vacation and it made me wonder...why am I here? There's an entire WORLD out there waiting to be explored, so why did I end up here in Qatar? Arghhh...how I wish to be driving on some highway in Europe, where it's all green with wonderful weather. In the hopes of preventing me from going insane I'm coming up with a list of the good things that happened to me this past year cause I was in Qatar:

1- Made good friends
2- Good choice for my career
3- Found QL and all its wacky people (love u guys!)
4- Learnt alot of new eye opening cultural things
5- Have a better understanding of the traditions here
6- Become more open minded due to the diversity
7- Got a cat :D
8- Got a car
