Unbelievable! What is wrong with people ?!
Ok so I've been off QL for a few days cause I was really busy and was trying to prove to myself that I'm not addicted to it. Anyways, I couldn't help but write now because of what happened today.
I was at Jarir's Costa Coffee in the morning, infront of me was a Qatari guy with his indian driver/employee/i dont know, so he orderes his coffee and a bunch of other stuff and then rudely yells at the poor indian guy to wait for HIS stuff and bring it to the car. I felt like smacking that Qatari so bad. The indian man was much older than the Qatari dude and he looked in bad conditions. The Qatari didn't even offer the poor guy some food or coffee or anything! I don't understand why people do such things. I mean why do they have to be so cruel ? Have any of u encountered such things? Not to mention how badly I see maids are treated here,it really pisses me off!
Something else about Great ole Qatar, I was driving and this guy just cutting infront of me (without any signals ofcourse) and goes at the slowest pace possible, so I change lanes and he changes lanes too!! How old are we ?! 5 ?! Can u guess what car he was driving? Yep...u guessed it...the wonderful landcruiser!
So today I'm not a big fan of this country!
Anyone have such stories?

Welcome to the slave/master ...Welcome to the slave/master society. Ain't it a scream. :P My favorite is when the little Qatari kids butt in line and when you say "Excuse me, I was here" The say "I'm Qatari, go away!"

What about when they drive ...What about when they drive up in their Landcruisers, toot their horns and wait for an Indian juice stall waiter to take their orders?

whats really troubling ...is that there is a whole generation of young kids growing up pretty used to the practise of kicking around their drivers and maids...
Yeah maybe these driver/maids are taken care of financially and stuff, but whatever happened to respecting your elders? or just respecting other humans?
If my child ever shouted at an elder person, I'd smack him so bad he'll do a double 360 on the spot

only bad taste ...of Qataris was at Hamad hospital the other week. Was standing in line, waiting to pay at cashier...in front of me was a young Qatari couple, and 3 expatriates. The Qarari couple finish paying and this older Qatari woman, comes from BEHIND me, shoves her money in the window, in front of the other 3 expatriates. Of course, we all FOUR turn and tell her, with fingers pointed backwards..that the que is BEHNIND us..she mutters and grumbles and goes to the back of the line....THEN..while waiting my turn to be called..watch this other older Qatari woman keep interrupting into the office rooms with patients in them, trying to cut in because she didn't want to wait..and for at least 5 times, she was told no...then came MY turn, and as I was about to go into the room, she is going into MY room and the nurse give me this apologetic look and says she'll call me next(It WAS my turn!!)..the maid was standing outside the door and had this look on her face like she wanted to crawl under the tile..saying ohh that is my madame's mother..she will be very quick...WHAT the Heck is that??? I finally get in and promptly let the doctor and nurse have 10 kinds of H*ll, telling them that no one is better than another and she should have been told to wait her turn instead of cutting in line of people that have ACTUALLY waited in line for an hour and half! Just got this blank stare...So far, the only bad thing ones I have seen are the older ones like this and the very young men...and they are just horrible drivers...
Its a shame that a very few can be the most visible bad examples....but then again..that's in any country...wonder why that is???

hashin...had my children done that, I'd ...have had them switch positions with the maid/driver...for a weekend...and have them treated like dirt to see just how it feels..and that along with the same pay and benefits. or lack thereof, the maid receives...

lol PM... ...I might have to try that next time..I have never been so furious in my life..(course the doc being a complete nincompoop didn't help!). Wanted to thump her on the head and say..hey..remember the rest of the world out here??? Only redeeming quality of that night was the guy behind the counter at the pharmacy who joked with me, and this Qatari woman waiting for her prescriptions, with 2 little girls, who I was teasing. She and I got to talking, and she showed me her littlest daughter who was 6 months old..and we talked for about 30 minutes, her sister joining in...redeemed my attitude in what I KNEW Qataris to be like, instead of the rare occurances of rudeness I'd experiened earlier.

I see a 7 month old blog is ...I see a 7 month old blog is back alive hehe. Speaking of hospitals, I saw a mother with a very sick child crying, but guess who was holding him ? The maid. I mean if u can't hold ur own child in his times of need, then why are u even called a mother ?

There is No Courtesy ...I feel as if the people have forgotten all the good manners and the politeness.
1) When you are on the road in a car no one will give you way, you have to barge in.
2) When the people in cars see a pedestrian trying to cross a road, they tend to speed up or apply brakes right infront of the pedestrian.
3)Even the crazy pedestrians hate crossing the road from the zebra crossing or the signals.
4)Breaking the line/queue is an all time favorite in Qatar, Be it in a shopping mall, or hospital.
5) Even in the carrefour people buying only one item tend to go straight to the cashier irrespective of the fact how long the line is and how many people have been standing for quite some time.
6)And the women in Qatar really need to learn some shopping manners. They tend to stand right in front of the stack making it difficult for the male shoppers to get a hand on the item.
7) And why the hell do the women get preferntial treatment. Last Monday I went to the traffic department to pay the fine, and I had to wait for three hours for my turn. And this lady comes in drenched in some perfume, goes straight to the counter and the officer obliges her. And there I was thinking just because she got some extra meat on her chest she gets preference. (I demand gender equality)

Don't ever blame anyone unless you are sure of it ! ...Cornellian did you confirm from that guy that he was a Qatari National? OR is he a Irani/ Yemani/ Palestinian etc... and dressing/ acting like Qatari ??
Well, since I moved to Doha, I have experienced this several times,
1st incident: one person joined our office, everyone was thinking that he is a Qatari, this guy just act like a Qatari in the office and kept everyone under pressure with his bold voice and hight attitude, one day i caught is talking Farsi (Persian) on the phone so i figured out he is not a Qatari but an Irani next day i talked to him in Farsi he was shocked and asked me how i know that he speak persian anyhow finally he accepted that he is Irani but dont liked to be called himself as Irani since he is born and broughtup in Qatar.
2nd incident, one day i was driving on the corniche with my family, suddenly 2 Qataris in ford mustang came bumper to bumper with my car, in short i did not give way to them since they were tring to scare me, they overtook my car and stopped infornt of me and blocked the roed, they came out of their and started shouting at me saying HAMAR "Donkey" you don't know how to drive? while sitting in my car i replied to them Inta Ibn Hamar "You son of a Donkey" i think you better need some driving lesson, when they learnt that i speak arabic also they pulled back, lucky police came and I told the police about their driving attitude, when police asked their Ids, they were Jordanians not Qataris.. till that time i and even police was under assumption that they were Qataris due to their look.
So i mean to say, majority of man and women are not Qataris but they dressup like Qataris and show to others as they are Qatari
Therefore, we cannot blame all such incidents on Qataris.
(Sorry but that's fact)
Peace

oh so true ...its the impersonators who are more obnoxious and try to act all high and mighty .. for one if someones full on witgh the road rage and screaming in arabic when i finally let him pass .. i either ignore him or reply in english which pretty much pissed him off even more :) and he just goes away .. yea i do know that most of the educated Qataris do speak very good english but i guess these guys might not be from that category,, but its sad how fickle minded some of them can be ..
life goes on ..

Believe me they are all the ...Believe me they are all the same... I got into quite some fights... old guys, young guys, midage guys... all of them. Once i was very close to beat the living hell out of a woman for the way she was driving, I didnt know it was a woman until i got off the car in the middle of the road lol, everyone was like woah O.O. Its everyday crap, the key is to not go down to their level. Now i dont even care, let them do whatever they want as long as they dont get on my nerves. I'm still doing a research on fixing bb guns in my car so i can shoot some nails from them or some way to throw rotten tomatoes on their cars. The lighting is fixed, im gonna order the loudest horn in this world which would make them deaf... literally everything that could ruin their lives, so they'd know what is the value of the life. Btw it's not only the locals, some of the palestinian and syrians r like that too... wont say lebanese cuz they dont drive anything that costs less than 200,000 lol... they'd die before they let anything happen to their cars :P
