I think it's stupid to give children the idea there's anything fun or nice about people-killers.
But this is a tough neighborhood so normal doesn't apply here and you see any party to any conflict involving children one way or another.
Look at the way Syrians indoctrinate children through the Baath Vanguards. I think they've just decided (a month ago) to stop it.
And by the way, are you sure these "gifts" are going to Palestinians and not Lebanon?

I don't know, I wonder what happens when terrorists do the same thing. Or Palestinian kids, or American soliders, or Japanese soliders or German soliders, this is not the first time someone has written stuff on bombs. This is why they call this crap PROPAGANDA.

The problem with Amr is that he cannot understand that it is possible to not take a side in this conflict. Also he refuses to see that it is both sides killing each other and goading each other on. He believes that I am pro-Israeli because I point out Palestinian propaganda, however, were it the other way around and people were spouting Israeli propaganda than I would say the same thing.

I find it incredibly funny that the people complaining the loudest about Palestinians and Lebanese being killed are the same people complaining that they are trying to immigrate into their country, or who call the Palestinians the "Rats of the Desert".

I also wonder how these people would react if the situation were reveresed and it was the Palestinians surrounded by the Israelis. My guess is the Palestinians would be behaving exactly like the Israelis do now, and the Israelis exactly like the Palestinians.

Don't make assumptions.

e46M3 you need to learn how to read, nowhere did Camper say the missiles were ever going to Palestine!

I know some people have issues when the other side of the Middle-East conflict is ever shown, but you're in the arab world deal with it or get out!

P.S. from a canadian sitting in the GTA right now. Just before you make your own silly "assumptions".

Hey teach, you read camper's headline, it says "Israeli kids sends gifts of love to Palestinians..."
Don't give me lessons in objectivity and patriotism; I'm Lebanese.

Looks like you're in need of either a teacher yourself or new glasses.

Now get off the fence.

teacher's picture

teacher said right my wrong ...

you're right I just read the comment. the point is still the same that "camper" is trying to make here and that is that kids on both sides are being indoctined. And in ALL western media Israel is generally depicted as peaceful victims and the Arabs gun-happy war-lords that teach their children to hate Israel. Most of us didn't ever hear about the kids sending messages on Missiles in this part of the world.

so if you're lebanese get some pride and stick up for your country and it's people that are being blown to pieces over a 2 soldier hostage-taking instead of discrediting anyone who is trying to bring light that your people aren't simply barbarians.

*** I have also been to the afflicted areas in Israel and the occupated territories over seven times in the span of 15 years and believe me the Palestinians have certainly received many of these "gifts of love". So it is not a completely ignorant assumption.

e46M3 said teacher ...

Israel withdrew in 2000 and has pretty much left us alone over the past 6 years. Then these guys decide they are going to capture more Israeli soldiers to up the ante in this regional power game and that's a lot more than "a 2 soldier hostage-taking". So Israel goes berserk. What would I expect Israel to do? Negotiate through the Red Cross?

Again, spare me the posturing lesson in nationalism and patriotism. You know nothing about me, my past or my present.

Lebanon has fought tooth and nail against the Israelis and will continue to do so when attacked. But no Lebanese asked Hezbollah to cross the international borders and bring this upon us for an agenda that is decidedly un-Lebanese.

Let's go back to 1982 and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and subsequent siege of Beirut. The central character then was a Palestinian, Yasser Arafat. He was constatntly at the front lines, with the residents of the city and his fighters.

Now where is Nasrallah today?

Western media has often sympathised with Palestinians and Lebanese. Look at Sabra and Shatila, Muhammad Durra, Qana... So I can't say all Western media is always biased.
Go to the refugee camps of Lebanon and you see all nationalities trying to do something for the people.

At the same time I cannot forget the Syrian-inspired and managed siege of the Palestinian refugee camps between 1983-1987. Arab hands have shed as much Palestinian blood as Israeli hands.

However it is up to us to resist intelligently and to build our societies from within, admit mistakes and problems and not blame everything on outsiders.

Cuba has been at loggerheads with the US for over 4 decades now but I haven't seen the Cubans burning American flags. The Vietnamese didn't use booby-trapped cars in the streets of downtown New York or Chicago.

Hezbollah had a successful formula in the 1990s. It attacked Israeli occupation forces and their SLA allies in the "security zone" and no one could accuse them of terrorism. They never attacked civilians, only the military.

I know how to stand up for Lebanon, and Palestine, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

What is happening now is very dangerous. It's more than civilians being killed and a coujtry torn apart. It's a showdown happening on Lebanese soil with mainly innocent Lebanese blood being shed. And no matter who wins Lebanon will be the loser and the winner will expect a price. Which is why the world is sitting and watching and giving Israel the time it needs. Hypocrisy? Double standards? There's another name for it; politics and in politics human life counts for very little except as a stepping stone towards a goal.

I might be very cynical but it's the result of years of this and that...

My view, anyway. With respect.

teacher said uh uh don't try to switch facts I am not an "igronant westerner" ...

It's unfortunate you speak of Sabra and Shatila because they were actually invaded by a lebanese Christian fundamentalist group named the Lebanese Phalangests. Yes, that was the time where Palistinians were burned alive, women and children raped, boys castrated and etc. truly throwing missiles on homes would be considered civilized compared to what this looney bunch did.

So there was probably some western sympathies at the time because only the Lebanese Phalangests had dirtied their hands in blood sure the Israelis were more than accomadating by not letting any of the Palestinians escape, supplying the weapons and openly Mr. Sharon cooridinated the whole thing...but they never commited the actual crime.

Also, Mohammed Al-Dura the little boy who was walking home from a convienece store and was shot to death --what was it over 17 times--while he tried to hide in his fathers arms...Western media did air this BRAVO! But meanwhile it was ONE child and we still ignored the other ten of thousands that are targeted and murdered with nothing...absolutely nothing.

Like I said many lebanese are feeling that Hezbollah have put them in their present situation, yet many more of us who have been following this Middle-Eastern mess for a few decades would look at it as the perfect Israeli Opportunity to go in destroy and somehow try to link everything back to Syria and Iran a couple of the only countries that are hostile to Israel in the region.

hmm I must say it's interesting for a Lebanese person to find Israel's action's justified. Because God knows if anyone, and I mean anyone came in and blasted Canada into rubble while killing scores of civilian and destroying our hard-earned homes, regardless if it were Israel, Palestine, Hezbollah or whoever, I think Canadians would be pretty enraged to the say least...especially if it were just because a couple of yahoos went and kidnapped a couple of people. Let those that commited the crime pay not the entire country!

But, Maybe you're just a really special person.

dohagirl said I really would like to know ...

I really would like to know what Western Media you guys watch and read. Most Western media with the exception of obvious right wing media (Fox News, National Post, etc) is on the side of the Palestinians. As are the vast majority of Westerners that I know (with the exception of my Jewish friends, and a lot of them disagree heavily with Israel's actions). When it comes to the hearts and minds of the world Palestine and especially now Lebanon, has peoples backing. Unfortunatly there is noway that the United States or any major Western power can openly back the Palestinians. It's simple politics. The Hamas, the PLO, the Hezbollah are terrorist organizations in the eyes of governments and the UN, the US would never openly support a terrorist organization it would go against everything they stand for. Also to take a stand against Israel is to appear Anti-Semetic, and I know the Arab world has no issues appearing that way but Westeners do, the Holocaust is still a little to fresh for comfort. And I believe many Western countries can sympathize with Israels position (surrounded by people who hate them and want them all dead)and therefore feel the need to support them, especially the US which most certainly feels itself surrounded by enemies.

What is happening in Lebanon is horrible, but Western nations are wary to back a side because to back a side means getting dragged into this thousand year old war between Arabs and Jews, a war which won't end until they all just kill each other off. No Western power wants its soliders mired in that struggle. Especially since we have groups of both living peacefully in our own countries side by side.

That being said, I believe they will have to take a side if the Lebanon situation continues. Personally I believe the only safe side to take would be with the Lebanese people, not the Hezbollah or the ones continuing this conflict, but with the innocents. Lebanon is not Palestine however, this conflict will end, hopefully soon and hopefully with lasting peace, the Palestine/Israel situation will probably never end.

Qatarcat's picture

Qatarcat said Most Lebanese people ...

Most Lebanese people themselves don't take Hezbollah's side, DG. At least all the Lebanese people I know (and that's A LOT of people).

dohagirl's picture

dohagirl said None of the Lebanese I know ...

None of the Lebanese I know support them either Cat, but terrorists never represent the majority of people, even though they feel the need to try and control their lives.
