I recently took the ADSL connection and its shows BARQ as username. How to change the name with familiar one?
you cant change it...but u can change your DSL password at qtel website
You CAN change it. RTFM
Sorry, I dont understand RTFM. Can u pls guide me.
you can change the Wifi router name, it's 10 digit password and your internet password, all ..
Read the manual, Step by step guide is there in the manual
It sounds to me that you need to change the SID name of your wireless network; rather than the user name f the ADSL connection.
The Qtel technicians brilliantly install every new DSL connection with the name barQ and leave without clear direction of how to go from there. in our compound, at some point I could see 4 barQ wireless networks.
What you need to do is:
- Once connected to your network, go to the admin console of the Thompson router - http://192.168.1.254/
- Enter the user name and password provided. If you have not changed them, the defaults should be in the quick start booklet in your package
- Looking around the settings for the SID name, it should display barQ. Change it to something else, apply your changes, restart wireless or your router and you are done.
- You should change the default user name and password immediately if you had not done so already. (This is the user name and password to administer your router, it is different than the ADSL user name and password)
In my case it was a bit harder, the idiot changed the user id/password without passing them to me, all my attempts to get them from Qtel (including the guy himself) went nowhere. Finally I had to reset the router to factory settings and figure out the settings from there.
Hope this helps.
