Accommodation in Doha!!

Busby's picture

Hi folks,

I am new comer to this forum, having viewed many topics & discussion by members I found this site is very useful for people like my self who are planning to move from UAE to Doha & have no much knowledge about the cost of living and life in general over the warm waters.

I would be grateful if some one could tell me how difficult is to find a two bedrooms flat in Doha & what is the average cost of rent? I know about the new games coming to Doha at the end of this year also I know location is important but on average in a good area say not two far from the airport.

I have been also told that including the rent the mobile phone calls are dearer that the UAE?

I do not want to bombard you with many question but for now this is a start.

Your help is very much appreciated as I am in the process of moving to new employment at Doha.

A two bed flat can be around 5-7000qr a month it can be quite easy but the newer flats are alot smaller than they used to be.

Thank you Sammie for your info.
I thought Abu Dhabi accommodation rent is the highest in the Gulf, I must be wrong, I am currently living in two bedroom Flat in good area with sea view, large bedrooms with living room + 1 ½ Bathroom in 7 year old building for only 3750/m.
I don’t know if it is really worth leaving Abu Dhabi for Doha!!

Regards

Well with the Asian Games everyone seems to have gone mad!!! I was looking for a two bed about 2/3 months ago one i was shown had two beds but i could fit the bed in one and the rest of the stuff would of had to go in the other and they wanted 6000 o be fair it was brand new but hardly any natural light either but if you can hold out there are some nice places i got one for 4500 with a decent size living room could fit my 7 seater sofa in it quite nicely and the main bed was big and the second could fit a double and more in with 1 1/2 bath no seaview that would cost more!

Thank you Sammie for the info, sorry it took me a while to send a reply,
I am planning to move to Doha from Abu Dhabi at the end of August, you reckon that I should have a chance to find a decent 2 Bed Flat in good Price?
My Budget is limited up to 6000/m & I feel for this monthly payment I should get good size rooms & 1 1/2 Bathroom as well, don’t you think so?
They said at the end of the games rent prices could go down!! subject to the willing of the greedy Landlords.

Regards

i have been talking to some estate agents (as i am after another apartment but i want fully funished so a bit harder) and i asked if they thought the prices would go down and they said no as the owners would rather leave them empty then to lower prices silly eh! Places to rent are becoming harder to find at the moment as even though there are loads of new apartment blocks up they are taken till after the asian games but good luck and here are a couple of numbers to try

dohagirl said Tarek, your living allowance ...

Tarek, your living allowance will not cover the cost of an apartment, you will end up having to pay at least another 3000QR out of your own pocket. Your transportation allowance will barely, and possibly not, cover the cost of a small car. Food would be 1000QR a month, plus other bills. I don't think it's quite enough.

It could be enough for a single guy, but definitely not for a family with kids. Renegotiate, or reconsider.

I'm not sure but am fairly certain that the government make payments to landlords if they have empty flats. Strange policy eh!
