Dear All
I am surprised to see such a good website giving information about life in Qatar. I am happy to see people out there ready to help each other by providing suggestions and sharing their experiences.
I have got an offer from Qatar Petroleum for senior staff grade 14 with basic salary of 13000 QR, housing allowance of 9750 QR. Kindly suggest whether the same is sufficient for living in qatar and also whether it is suitable for me having an experience of 17 yrs in oil and gas industry of India. I tried to negotiate but to no success. Please clear my dilema and apprehensions by your valuable advices. Regards.

The money they are offering sounds enough to give you a comfortable life in Qatar. Nothing over the top, but comfortable...If you have family, make sure they take care of schooling fees.

I don't know about salary ranges and can't tell you if the money that they are offering is fair to your experience or skills, but I'm pretty sure it has been discussed in other posts. Do a search.

thanks for the views. yes they are providing complete school fees. what about other day to day expenses. approx how much qr is required per month for a family of 4 members

Thats hard cause if you have a lavish lifestyle then it could go to infinite amounts but if you live nominally and your company takes care of schooling for the kids, your acommdation, electricity and water bills......then you could live on about Qrs.5000 per month I think.

leaving a permanent govt job with good life style without rise in the offered salary is not advisable. leaving all your setup at your base country for meagre saving cannot be justified. may be the company can understand and do the needful. however thanks for the suggestion. any further response will be helpful.

ANYBODY'S CHILDREN STUDYING IN EITHER DPS-MODERN SCHOOL OR IDEAL INDIAN SCHOOL. CAN ANYBODY THROW SOME LIGHT ON THEIR PERFORMANCES AND WHICH ONE IS DOING WELL. ALSO DO THEY ACCEPT ADDMISSIONS DURING DEC OR JAN. THANKS
