Freedom of living in Qatar is always disscused here.Islamic countries are not liberal, not caring for non-muslim's right. What about the modern civilisation??? are the caring for us.

It seems that they do not ...It seems that they do not know a lot about Islam. For this reason they do that.
Muslims too do not know a lot about their own religion.
Stonning is both for women & men who commit adultry. Men escape while poor females get caught.
As I know, female circumcision is not required. It might even be haram if it is unhealthy & harmful.

bbksiu... ...Its right that Muslims do not know a lot about their own religion because they are not doing research and study , just busy in Watching TV, Following America , Adopting non-muslim culture to become modrate.

I read a little book. It was ...I read a little book. It was written in it that if a Muslim stopped learning about Islam, he or she becomes a non-Muslim.
Instead of having TV's which includes viewing lots of Fitnas (fittun)Muslims could get a screen, DVD's, & CD's of Islamic materials in their houses. They could turn on the screen & watch & view DVD's & CD's.

what is your view sfd24? i ...what is your view sfd24?
i felt the article was very naive and the acts discussed are specifically antireligion.
if a nation is welcoming migrants, then they need to learn flexibility too.
everyone complains of limitations in qatar, but it wont be long before everything is allowed here and qatar will become one secular islamic nation where everything is not necessarily encouraged or allowed but if its done then its tolerated.

If people are stoning and ...If people are stoning and performing female circumcisions, then YES that should be banned. Childrend carrying religous knives to school is ridiculous as well. Accidents happen, especially with children...banning knives in school(religous or not) is a must.
As far as banning Halal meat and Burqas...ignorant. Those are personal choices that do not harm humans. Let it go.
Qatarina said
ridiculous...! ...I certainly support making stoning, female circumcision, honour killing a crime punishable by law...but
telling a muslim not to ask for halal meat is like telling a jew not to ask for kosher, telling a vegetarian not to ask for animal free /vegetarian products, telling a person who is gluten intolerant not to ask for gluten free produce/products, telling a buddhist not to ask for any meat but beef and similarly telling a hindu that nothing but beef products are available...
telling a muslim to not wear a headscarf is like telling a mormon lady not to cover her head, telling a jew not to wear the yarmulke, telling certain christian believers not to cover their heads, telling an indian lady she can't wear the saree, telling a pakistani lady she can't wear the shalwar kameez, or telling just about anyone not to wear a certain style of clothing...
why single out muslims?

i want to just highlight ...That if in Qatar our friends not find Pork they are crying, although they have a lot of other options, but if Muslim can't find Halal meat no one is objecting and Muslims have no other option. Why dual policies with muslims???

true situation that exists ...true situation that exists is that no one really cares about muslims, most just tolerate muslims because thay have no choice, but if they had their way, well ..........its evident whats going on around the worlds isnt, but its so easy to blame the muslims for everything.
but there are good and there is bad also.

Yes. Quebec is always ...Yes. Quebec is always whining about it's "unique culture." They've tired seperating from the rest of Canada and so forth just to avoid having to put English on road signs. I'm really not surprised that if something like this had to come from anywhere in the world, it can from French Canada. When they refused to allow English signage (in a predominately English Country) etc. That didn't make worldwide news, but the minute you do it to Muslims, watch out.

No it just means in todays ...No it just means in todays political climate, any slight against muslims suddenly makes world wide news. It's slightly tiresome. People ban a lot of stupid Christian practices too, but it doesn't make world wide news.

its sad ...maybe it makes worldwide news to irk the muslims and to get a negative reaction from them.could be serving the political agenda in some wicked way.
in todays climate it doesnt taken much to really get the muslims worked up, and with good reason most of the time.
its just sad that religions and communities are targetted for whatever reason.

Yes but Muslims should not be so quick ...to respond because it just highights the issue. There are plenty of trouble making idiots around the world who love to cause trouble through excessive political correctness and headline grabbing statements. Better to just ignore them and live and let live. They can't do anything about Halal meat anyway. There is nothing illegal about Halal meat. Also, be a little more suspicious of newspaper articles, they're often inaccurate, misreported or just plain made up. Who says this story is true? I have read plenty of inaccurate stories in the Gulf Times before.

It is a free market applied ...It is a free market applied to a small town in Canada. They are offering a niche product to potential residents.
The product is "enough of this hardcore religious stuff let's just live nicely here in our small town in Quebec".
If you don't like the product they are offering and think it important that you eat this meat or that meat or your hair is covered up or you don't turn the lights on on a saturday then don't move there.

france.... ...As I remember, and if I am not mistaken, some time ago in France the Muslim teachers in the public schools were forbidden to wear hijabs .. so here you go.. again France…
In Toronto (which is in English Canada) there is a whole district, called “Little Lebanon”, there are many restaurants and “take –out” places with meat halal.. My friend’s family owes one of such restaurants… you also can see a lot of tracks on the roads with the sign “Meat halal”… btw, and at some places of this “Little Lebanon” they serve very nice argillas, which I like a lot...

Just like having no pork here, what's the big deal? ...Asking for halal meat is no way similar to an allergic person asking for gluten free or nut free product. An allergic person could get very sick or even die if they consume certain things? Neither it is same as a vegeterian asking for animal part free product. A vegeterian will not eat a cow\lamb\pig regardless of the way it was raised and killed. So, it is a religeous and cultural issue. So if you know this place will not have halal meat and you must have some, don't go there. How is it any different than Qatar and other Muslim countries (exception Dubai, Bahrain)not allowing pork in the open market? Pork loving people already know there will be no pork here and if that is totally unacceptable to them, then they don't come here.
Gypsy said
This is all a moot point ...This is all a moot point anyway. First of all in a town of 1300 people you wouldn't be able to buy halal meat anyway, I would be surprised if it even has a decent sized grocery store. Second of all, they can't enforce this, it goes against federal laws.
It's a pile of poo designed to get them into the papers and unfortunately people are paying attention to it.
