employment ban

i've been confused for ages regarding this employment ban being imposed here in qatar. i have been told that it's 2 years but rumors are circulating also that it's only 6months now.
i'm planning to resign from my current job as am not happy with the way things are already yet i dont wanna remain stranded doing nothing at home for years. i am planning to go back here in doha as i got some friends and acquaintances who can help me find a new job. the only problem is the employment ban which my present employer may give me as they dont usually give NOCs to those who leave their company.Â
any ideas please? thanks.

How long ...Even if you obtain the NOC from your current employer, I believe that you will have to have been in Qatar for 12 months. I had a similar problem and even with another job, the ministry wouldn't agree because I hadn't been in Qatar for over 12 months in that particular stint. It took 3 months for them to tell me that.

hi dweller...actually ive ...hi dweller...actually ive been here for almost two years already. however, ive been told that even if ive already finished my contract and i will not renew it, they will still ban me for two years. which i find really unfair. but some says it's not the employer's policy but qatar's law.

........84 months residing in qatar ...hello dweller, what about if your here 84 months (7 yrs), they still going to ban for re-entering qatar?

Bans ...I am unsure as to the current ruling. My situation existed in 2004. I had previously been in Qatar for over 15 years (leaving in 1997).
In 2004, I had been released by my existing employer, had been offered a position with "Class Act" setting up a new venture, had applied for a change of sponsorship and was told initially that as I had a letter of release (NOC) from my current sponsor, I would have no problem.
After 3 months (during which time the new venture commenced operations) I was informed by the ministry that as I had been in Qatar for less than 12 months, transfer of sponsorship was not allowed.
From that ruling, I would assume that anyone with over 12 months residency in Qatar and a NOC from their current employer would be free to transfer sponsorship.

will i be on a black list ...I worked in qatar with a contracting company for a period of about three and half years as an Engineer. Due to some situations back home I was compelled to go on an emergency leave . Eventhough i had a valid Residence Permit; due to some unavoidable circumstance i could not return to Qatar. Now Its almost 28 months since i left Qatar.
Can i now return to Qatar with a new employer on a fresh visa or could it be possible that i would have been black listed.
Any advise / help on the above query will appreciated.
Thanks in advance
