Islamic Studies & Teaching in Doha

Hi,
My wife and I will be moving to Doha in the next few weeks/months(depending on paperwork...)
We are keen to know if anyone can assist in advising us on good places where my wife will be able to complete her Hifdhul-Quran. Also if you can let us know if there is any scope to provide Islamic studies/tuition to younger english speaking children (as she has a certificate in Islamic Studies).
Thanks for your help,
Riy

Salam Riy :-) There are ...Salam Riy :-)
There are places for your wife to complete her Tahfeedh :-) Take for example: Eid bin Muhammed Al Thani Charity\woman branch, and the so many centers all around the country. It depends on where you live. Transportations are available too. All free. But there are lists and registration time. Also, they are strict on rules. Hope she'll survive ;-) Coz the waiting lists get full too!
There is an Indian lady I know who goes there though she doesn't speak Arabic! BUT , if your wife doesn't speak Arabic I recommend her to join the one in Qatar Center of Presentation of Islam , in Doha. They are non speakers of Arabic. So things will be much easier to her.
About your wife..Hummmm,I’m thinking of the private schools of specific colonies like the Pakistanis, Indians..etc.I think we have group of students from Comoros islands too,,
Or maybe she can work in Qatar Center of Presentation of Islam, The one I mentioned above. If couldn’t, they perhaps will tell her where else she can apply.Nice friendly people there..
May Allah bless you..

Shukran for your reply - i ...Shukran for your reply - i will insha Allah look into that centre when i get there. I am curious however, perhaps you may know, the method they use in their classes for memorizing qur'aan. Is it a personalized one-on-one type or more class orientated? You mention thay are very strict, do tell me more about what you mean by that.
Do you know of anyone who has/is studying there, whom i could possibly contact.
Shukran

Well, I think it's almost ...Well, I think it's almost the same way everywhere. First the teacher reads it all..Then the whole class repeat after her (all together) and then each and every student read from the book alone and the teacher corrects. The next time they meet each and every student read what they have taken after they have memorized it by heart.
About being strict, Well I'm not a good example of a student. I had to be absent several times because of my freakin university sooo I felt like everyone was better than and me and I sadly left.I'll be back as soon as I graduate. Next year insha Allah.. You know seeking knowledge in Islam is holy too..
Soo forget about what I said about being strict. As long as she attend classes on time and do not miss them she’ll be fine :-D

Salam Aisha, Do you know if ...Salam Aisha,
Do you know if they have an Islamic centre new Al-Khor?

I don't know dear , But I'll ...I don't know dear , But I'll know by tonight :-) I'll ask for you inshallah..You mean center for thahfeedh, right? Because I don't think there is something else there...I haven't heard of it before..
Anddd They are not strict, I'm sorry I used that word. It's just that they don't allow carelessness..But they are very understanding though...Worry not!

oh yeah, before i forget. Do ...oh yeah, before i forget. Do you know of any community/social work that happens? Coming from South Africa quite a lot of things happen, like Ramadaan collections to collect food for those who do not have enough to eat, winter collections etc.
Qatar being quite a wealthy country, do you have any social programs like that to take part in or would it be purely based for international relief efforts?

arab classes ...There are arabic classes as well, and their classes are very good i have heard. But right now they have only started a new one. Just give them ur telephone number or email id and the center will contact u when they start a new course.
Even QCPI holds classes but there classes are held for 3 to 4 months and starts at a period of time, they have announced new classees but haven't started yet. They have a new premises now in the center of the city.
All of them announces in the local newspaper from time to time.

You asked about ...You asked about charities....They do collect sadaka/zakah for a multitude of things.....orphans, Illiteracy, African relief....they also collect clothes etc....I will ask about "they" and let you know....I'm quite new to town myself ...lili.

lili... sounds like a ...lili... sounds like a plan... ill def. ask her to get in touch with u... still a while till she gets there though :-( i get my work visa soon and can only sponsor her after i get my residence which takes upto 6 weeks (so ive been told).... trying to see if i can bring her on a holiday visa for a bit though so she can see if she whats its like as well (make dua I get something sorted, otherwise its gona be a looooong 6weeks for me!)
the best part about collection is the actual part of going out to hand it over to people... makes you so much more thankful for what you have and its realy great to meet different people! As appose to just collecting money for an organisation, where you dont get the same experience.
