As our community grows we are seeing lots of activity on the site. This is fantastic - Qatar Living should be the first place you visit to chat about Qatar and all things related.
A by-product of the growth is people posting off-topic or unhelpful comments in the various discussion threads. In order to keep the site relevant, useful and friendly we will be removing any comments that are off-topic or blatantly unhelpful or unnecessarily rude.

Although I personally don't like the idea of censorship either...But it's our fault, that we can not be polite and nice to each other. And somebody needs to supervise our comments! It shows our immaturity! So blame on yourself!
Qatari, is that possible to highlight somehow the Signatures, to separate them from the actual comments? as it caused misunderstanding couple of times already, especially for the newcomers

Silvermoon ...I understand that a public forum ideally will serve to share views, tips, ideas, knowledge etc, but in a public forum you will also find rude comments, inmature members, stuff that might be offensive to some, people that go offtopic.
I dislike rudeness more than you can imagine, but I accept that it happens in a public forum where members can express themselves with absoulte freedoom.
I'd much rather have the freedoom and deal with the rudeness. We are adults, aren't we?

I agree. Well done and well said. Take out the trash. ...I have been a computer user for many years and started off using the old BBS's. Then it was newsgroups. Newsgroups are on the way out now because of too many trolls and their off topic rants and attacks on everybody and everything. I grew tired of sorting through the muck and have just about quit looking at any news groups. Forums can get out of control too, if they are not moderated.
It is nice to see that there will be "housekeeping" done here. I am all for it. I was happy to find this site when I arrived in Doha and have benefited from it when I asked for directions to this or that. I found very helpful people here that have a lot in common.
I'll be looking to buy a car soon, so I like to check the classifieds here. What a nice site this is! Thanks Qatari!

Qatari ...I think it is a very good idea. In addition to this, can you please also block all the 'nokia N95, Sony Bravia' sort of advertisements appearing in classifieds every couple of days. I dont think anybody is gaining anything from these advertisements.

if no one has mentioned it ...if no one has mentioned it before please screen classifieds specifically looking for girlfriends for certain purposes.it applies vice versa also.
if screening, screen everything, not just unnecessary or irrelevant posts.
like pothole stated get a moderator/inspector.it may just do some good.i am not sure if members will like to see their messages deleted, its not always that situation gets out of hand and when it does, you could step in to stop it or just remove the thread of discussion.that will end all frustration or maybe start new ones.

As you've noticed, no-ones comment on this thread has been removed (even though many disagreed!). That's the way it should be since it is all on topic - the only comments that would be removed is if someone posted here "Is XYZ a good salary" or "Iraq is a disaster!"
