Should I move to Qatar
Hello, i received an offer to work in Qatar; basic Qr6000 + Qr600 travelling allowance.Housing is provided with a furnishing allowance, transport to and from work is also provided. 2 return flights per year is also paid for.Do you guys think that this is a good offer for me to live in Qatar and save some money?

Pensonally I don't think is enough. But it depends of your experience and whether you are bringing your family with you.

It is a high salary for the Third world expatriates.
Qatar is about 50 celsius in summer. It is very hot here in summer. These cities: Doha, Wakra, Umm Said, & Khour are near the beach which means that evaporation of sea water will make you feel bothered of humidity in summer.
The country is under construction. Many roads are being made, repaired, & closed. Traffic-jam is common in Doha. Automobile accidents take people lives. Public transportation of buses is being developed.
Drinking, smoking, showing parts of your body may insult others.
You might be able to learn about another culture. You might also learn about Islam.

lol booty ...somehow our friend bbksiu always manages to bring buses into any conversation, be it salaries, weather or interantional issues. Buses is all that matters.

Making money in Qatar might be easy. However, driving in Qatar to some extent is very dangerous. Many expatriates are angry at the driving here:-((
I want to contact a bus manufacturer. They might make the bus of my dream. Riding buses in Qatar will be like riding airplanes, I hope.

From one South African to another.....
I have been here two months..... And came here on more or less the same package as you......
Firstly..... if you don't have to send your money home, then you can live quite comfortably on that amount.... Infact, you can live quite an elaborate life style.....
But, if like me, you have to send 90% of your salary home every month..... Don't take the option...... it can be very depressing...... There is not much to do here, so you eat out alot, which means you will need to take cabs(your company will not provide that out of office)..... depending on the area you are living in..... it will cost you about 15QR to catch a cab to City Center or Cornishe(the only places to really hangout)
I love Qatar, but work keeps me occupied, so I manage to save on transport and tend to cook at home, so that also saves, but if you like to go out and have drinks or go to clubs, then it's going to be very expensive.....
Think hard before making this decision..... 6000QR a month is about R11 500..... is this more than you were clearing in S A? If you are doing this for the experience.... then don't hesitate..... You will get an education....

The bus will not fly. However, being in it will make you feel that you are using a first class transportation system.
