Qatar Foundation Concert Series : A Gala Concert of Classical Arabic Music conducted by Salah Ghobashi

The second concert in the 2008 Qatar Foundation Concert Series, in association with Qatar Shell, will take place in the Qatar National Theatre on Thursday at 7.30pm. A Gala Concert of Classical Arabic music will be performed by the renowned Arabic Music Group of Cairo under conductor Salah Ghobashi.

The programme will consist of well-known romantic and folklore songs from various Arab regions and a selection of Arabic instrumental pieces played on traditional instruments. The group will consist of 15 singers and 15 instrumentalists.

Qatar Foundation Concert Events Organizer Steve Griffiths said: 'This will be the first time that a concert of traditional Arab music is presented as part of the Qatar Foundation Concert Series. We are especially excited to be hosting so many talented musicians from Egypt. Both Qatar Foundation and Qatar Shell hope that this concert will attract a multinational audience.”
