Global Village 2008
2008 marks the 3rd Annual Global Village at College of the North
Atlantic-Qatar. A celebration of the cultural diversity represented at
CNA-Q, Global Village is one of the highlights of the year, and is open
to all who wish to attend.
The theme of this year’s event “Cultural Crossroads” welcomes
visitors who will be able to wander the streets of the villages
visiting 15 different countries in just one night. With food, crafts
and music representing each country, it’s sure to be a delight to all
the senses.
Participating countries include: Canada, Qatar, Algeria, Bangladesh,
Egypt, India, Iran, Korea, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Palestine,
Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Tunisia.
This year CNA-Q will welcome entertainment from Canada.
Award-winning group Shanneyganock sharing the stage with student groups
and professional Qatari entertainers, including "The Pearl Band". This
year, the entertainment schedule truly represents the vast cultures
represented at College of the North Atlantic – Qatar.

I went last year to ...I went last year to represent Korea in the international part of the Global Village. I will be going with dd on Monday but not with the Korean table.
I hope to see other QLers there.

Mean-spirited people alive & well in Doha ...I feel sad when I meet mean-spirited people in this world. I don't blame some people for being mean-spirited because it is the only way they know how to survive. They don't know love or grace. They view life as merely compeition and achieving their own success and successful reputation.
Nothing wrong with that but it should be done with grace and love.
Unfortunately, I'm often duped by these people b/c I couldn't tell a mean-spirited person from a kind person until after the fact. This is what happened. This is not a big deal but, I think, it is a sign of this kind of unkind & selfish attitude.
I've organized and sat at the Korean booth at the Global Village for the past three years. I love representing Korea! In December, I contacted a Korean friend who said she could help out. She had done a great job last year. I asked her to call me in February or closer to the event. I contacted the event organizers last week to make last-minute preparations. Apparently, a few weeks ago my friend had called the organizers and told them that she wanted to cancel the Korean booth because she was too busy! I think she did it because she wanted to sabotage it. If she couldn't do it, then NOBODY should do it. This is not just me but dw (darling wife) has met her and felt her to be cold-hearted, uncaring, and controlling. dw has an uncanny ability to "sense" peoples' hearts so I trust her on this point.

My nemesis in Doha. ...Ah, Alexa, that was you, was it? I can only see your eyes behind that avatar hijab. I did meet you at the QL Fuwarit beach outing, if I'm not mistaken, and you didn't look Korean...but who am I to tell. We all live in one great big global village.
If it wasn't you, I will wait until it is the right venue: maybe when I'm walking in Landmark food court with a tray full of drinks.
