Our philosophy is to teach the basic rules - to demystify art - and to then motivate the artist to break those rules and thereby create their own unique style. We encourage the artists to develop their own creativity and imagination. In addition to bringing a broad scope of visual reference into the instruction we support ongoing dialogue with regard to techniques, artists, art history, and museum exhibits.

Dar Al Founoun will offer:

Children courses
Adult courses
Artists in Residence Workshops
Cultural Art Tours

This course affords students the unique opportunity to work on paintings they currently have in progress. Instruction will focus on how to push their work to the next level. The course will deal with the technical aspects of painting. Study may include composition, form, paint application, both direct and indirect painting, color, or any other technical elements required to improve the work. There will be emphasis on the ability to see a painting as a complete sum of its parts and to address how to make it function as a greater whole.

Paintings will be worked on directly in class or, if students prefer, exercises designed to address trouble spots can be completed on separate canvases. This class provides a wonderful workshop environment with hands on painting and both group and individual critiques. Students without work in progress or ideas to develop, who wish to participate will be provided with exercises at the onset from which they can develop a painting throughout the course. This class is open to students who took “Absolute Beginner Course” or with equivalent basic knowledge.
