Doha • Over 200 businessmen from UK, Germany, Russia and other countries are expected to participate in the upcoming ‘Qatar Investor Window’ conference. The Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Yousuf Hussain Kamal will open the conference to be held at Sheraton Hotel on May 26 and 27.

Participants at the conference will have an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss cooperation perspectives with the Qatari business community in the field of energy, industry, construction, urban development and services.

The conference, organized by the Qatari Businessmen Association and London based company UCI is intended to attract business leaders and professionals from Europe to Qatar to discuss and explore investment opportunities with their Qatari counterparts and establish joint ventures in various sectors. Organizers said the event would serve to open communication channels between national and global business communities in order to transfer and consolidate knowledge, increase integration opportunities and investment flow for the benefit of all parties.

The main objective of the event will be to provide an environment to facilitate collaboration between Qatari, Gulf and international investors, who can work together to foster international investment, joint venture and transfer of know-how. According to organizers, the event will significantly raise the international awareness of the immediate, extensive and advantages of doing business with Qatari and Gulf investors.

The event will provide a platform for the promotion of Qatar as a strategic, accessible location, with an excellent and reliable infrastructure, pleasant and safe working environment, with no restrictions on profit transfer or capital repatriation-all of which bode well for future investment, organizers said. The conference would provide a great opportunity as well for major Qatari firms to showcase their activities and services. An exhibition will be held on the sidelines of the conference.

The conference will be addressed by a number of prominent speakers representing key business and financial institutions, including Qatari Businessmen Association Chairman, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassem Al Thani, Al Khalij Commercial Bank Chairman Tarek A Al Malki, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) CEO Salah Mohammed Al Jaidah, Amwal CEO Laurent du cadet, and Barwa Chairman Ghanim bin Saad Al Saad.
