Doha Academy's 5th Educational Conference : Innovative Approaches in Education
The conference aims to highlight the challenges today's educators face and put forward approaches for practical solutions through an Islamic perspective and thus making further contribution to the educational reforms already underway in Qatar.
It also intends to help develop the vision for excellence in education and training educators through workshops to be conducted by experts in the field.
Participants at the conference to be held on January 16, 2008 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel include Amr Mohamed Helmi Khaled, Founder and Chairman of the board of trustees of UK-based Right Start Foundation and Dr. Abdul Hakim Sherman Jackson, associate professor of Islamic Studies, Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan.
Also participating at the conference are Imam Suhaib Webb, member of the Muslim American Society, Muhammad Akram Khan-Cheema, Education Consultant with the Association of Muslim Schools in UK, Shaykh Babikir Ahmed Babikir, Imam of Yusuf Islam's Islamia School, Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang, world renowned master of Islamic and Chinese calligraphy, Peter Sanders, professional photographer and Sami Yusuf, British composer and musician.
An exhibition of photos by Peter Sanders and calligraphy by Haji Noori Deen will open the conference. This will be followed by a series of educational workshops dealing with such issues as the need for change in education and educational leadership.
The themes to be addressed at the workshops include teaching methods: building on diversification, innovative approaches to social communication in schools and duty and discipline in a Muslim School.
