DOHA •Sixty universities and educational institutions from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Qatar will participate in the first Qatar International College Fair to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel from February 26 to 28.

The event is being hosed by Higher Education Institute, Supreme Education Council (SEC).

Mohammed Saleh Al Mannai, Acting Director, Higher Education Institute told reporters that the fair would provide excellent opportunities for high school seniors, graduates and prospective students to gain first hand knowledge about admission requirements, application processes, and required tests from universities on the Institute scholarship list.

The UK, with the representation of twenty-two universities, has the maximum number of representation in the fair. While thirteen Australia, universities will have their pavilion at the event, three US universities and nine US-Qatar universities will participate in the fair.

The US and UK embassies in Qatar and the Australian embassy in UAE will also have their pavilions at the event.

The Test Providers, including ACT, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, Sylvan Learning Center and Princeton Review/Score Plus are among other agencies to participate in the fair.

"The fair allows the students to meet face-to-face with representatives from the various universities, educational institutions and international college entrance exams and learn more about the programmes, procedures, visa issuance, living abroad and many other questions that students may have. The fair is part of the Institute's education policy of promoting opportunities for excellence", said Al Mannai .

The objective of the fair is to create an appropriate environment for students to obtain scholarships corresponding to their academic abilities, ambition and desires. This will also help student acquire scholarships and assist Qatar to overcome skill shortages, he said.

The three-day event will be marked by lectures by the experts from the participating universities and the Test Providers and the embassy officials.

Fouziya Al Neema, Director of Advising and Career, Dr Nawal Al Sheikh, Director, Communication Office, SEC and Salwa Atiyyah, Consultant of Advising & Career Development Centre, Higher Education Institute, SEC were among others who attended the press meet.
