Over 2,400 runners signed up for the sixth Ooredoo Marathon today
Over 2,400 runners signed up for the sixth Ooredoo Doha Marathon at the Museum of Islamic Arts Park (MIA).
According to The Peninsula, runners from across Qatar’s communities were joined by a host of internationally renowned athletes, including multiple Olympic Gold Medallist Sir Mo Farah.
The marathon took place today between 6:30 am and 11:30 am, with all roads along the Corniche closed during this time.
The invitational elite half marathon is part of the Ooredoo Doha Marathon, which includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K events for adults and youth as well as 3K and 1K events for children.
Over the past five years, the Ooredoo Doha Marathon has steadily grown to become the largest mass participation event in Qatar attracting runners from over 50 nationalities.
In this 2018 edition, participants from 83 nationalities took part. The elite athletes competed for $50,000 in prize money, with equal prize funds for both the men and women events.
