Let me tell me you my story with the worst school in Doha, it is called Cambridge School for Girls. So nice name, wonderful building that you will be deceived at the beginning. But you will end by this conclusion I got that it is waste of time and money bad staff, no qualified teachers. I don t imagine this school with this big name and there is not any teacher from England. The fees are equivalent or higher than reputable schools, and the service is equal to cheapest school. I will summarize my experience in the following points
1.Most of teachers are from India, Nigeria, and Philippine, when I asked the principle that it wasn’t as I understood from the beginning at the admission time that teachers are from England or South Africa and that is why I am paying triple the fees of any Indian School, the simple answer from her was this is our staff, you have the choice to move your kids and you can call the owner to escalate, I am just an employee here.
2.School changes the uniform every year to force parents purchase new one on annual basis, the funny that there is only one tailor available, comes one day a week and has a waiting list for 3 weeks ahead, My daughter will go with any dress other that last year uniform as per the instructions for the next 3 weeks.
3.Paying 1,100 for three months transportation fees, the amazing part that the school started 4th Sep and so far no buses drivers (Still on Vacation). One driver called me yesterday telling that starting from today he would start picking my kids, they should be prepared at 6:30AM, at 8:30 I received a call from him telling that he will not be able to come, and I should do it myself. School Starts at 8:00 AM
4.Administration staff are not organized at all , and very aggressive dealing with parents, you can see the school yesterday as of you are in central fish market at Friday morning, One Administrator had a fight with one poor mothers and started calling her names and finally kicked her out of the school. I could not believe my eyes.
5.At the payment time, you have to bring Cash money or you will be charged for 2% of the amount if you use ordinary debit Card (Refusing Credit Cards)
6. When I asked the principle about the mess in the school and that it is not good image to find school so unorganized, her answer was it is not her fault gave me owners e_mail to escalate.
7.Finally when I asked the principle to return my money back to move my kids from this horrible school, she replied no money back , and it is your choice at the end to choose the right school.
In General you feel that no one from staff is keen about the education process itself, it is just a commercial project, and they are employees waiting their salary end of the month, Owners are doing their best to just rape parents. I am writing this article just to warn anyone considers to all to this horrible school, searching well or you will be in my position now.

Hey, your submission makes no sense to me. I need serious advise please. Thank you.
It's creating students for next class ................ creating money for the owners .............. creating free time for the moms .............. so it's called creative bld...................................
Hi guys, what is the update on Cambridge International School for Girls? Have they improved or situation is the same or worse?
How can a building be "creative"? What is doing?
I don't agree about any of what you have said.
this is an opinion that was decided 7 years ago, that is a long time.
All staff changed and the school is much better now.
Well, this is a point of view from a parent. I am a student in CISG and that is my 6th year in this school, 3rd school I have been to and I am so happy and proud of being in such school.
The education level is perfect, the building is creative and the school has all the resources and facilities to support and help the student learning in a safe environment.
And why do you think of the staff being Indians, so what, we are all human been, discrimination and racism is not what our school taught us and raise us on.
The staff is so kind with parents and students and our principle is so understanding to all ages and cultures. Nothing in our school differentiates between us, not religion, not nationality and not even our skin colour, NOTHING. In our school we are all equal, loveable and respectful to one another.
Can you post more comment about Cambridge School for Girls ?
I am planing to send my daughter to this school. Before that I like to ask your comment. So please send more comment about CAMBRIDEGE SCHOOL FOR GIRLS.
guys just NEVER GO TO THAT STUPID SCHOOL its just a school non organized the worst school in qatar
very low experience in their studying and very bad school
all the teachers are indian with that accent that nobody understands
Im warning you guys
If you take your children there you will have a terrible time
and by the way they take all pupils chips, fries, candy, chocolate, phones and many more (they dont give it back) and they are really picky about these things
Trust me guys i tried it their its completely horrible
sadly saying that they change principles every year, so thats really an un organized school
the nurse gives children wrong medicines that can effect your children and cause harm. Transport is always having problems ex: not coming on time, telling parents that they are not able to pick up your child and more.
books and uniforms are really coming late so children will must have a detention
school is all a complete mess
everyone is shouting and screaming in the porta cabin there is no teacher to let them be quiet.
reception always busy if you call
really bad service
some teachers there are mean, very bad teaching
and at least 16 classes HAVE to have a problem with the AC
some classes leave permanent markers on the teachers desks then children use them and get in trouble.... Such a disaster
lots of mean qatari girls in this school, so you can get bullyed easily
Teachers get low salary
its like the worst school I've ever seen so far
There is even a leak in the pipes outside, so at breaktime children can slip and fall, they always have fake fire alarms and let children stay outside in the HOT sun 45 degrees for 1 and a half hours
such a stupid school
if you have lost your phone card number you will never get your phone back -_-
parents not allowed to come inside the school
some classes children are jumping on the chairs, dancing, singing , shouting, screaming and the teacher just sits their and watches them
Cleaners dont even know ONE word in english
WORST SCHOOl EVER!!!!!! >:(
Please advice which is the best french or english school in Qatar?!
I have the same problem right now but I don't know where to take my kids
If u plz tell me which school you moved to
i like to share with all of you , i had experience the same, and i already pulled off my daughter from this School, going to Ministry for complain is no use, its Taleeb Group, best is to change the school, but in Qatar to find the good Education is very difficult. secondly you don't have the Choice. I can suggest you to put them in a reasonable school, and work out extra efforts to get some out source, tuition, spend time with them...... that's what i am doing now.
What about "The Cambridge School"? Not the school for girls, just the "Cambridge School" ...
oohhh heavens.....poor thing...
the principal is a Brit Angelina
I doubt it......probably not a British teacher in the place....
it follows the british curriculum isnt it?
Why would you think it was a British school just because its called 'Cambridge'????
Why would you think it was a British school just because its called 'Cambridge'????
Problem is that most schools here are 'For Profit' which means they will always put profit before children. There are very few schools in UK which are like this and British private schools are run as a charity - ie any surplus cash goes back into the school infrastructure -so everyone wins.
Until you see such things here, this will continue to happen, the owner will just see children as $$$$$ signs
Firstly, there are problems in every school and company in Doha. Staff have to leave for personal reasons, family issues etc, there are problems with visas and so on. There are always gaps and when there are, the school must do their best to fill them. CISG does this. Managers can never please everyone. This is a well-known fact, so the comments about the principal are unsurprising. None of the principal’s relatives are in Qatar or coming to Qatar to work so that statement is completely untrue. The principal is here because she loves different cultures and those that know her know that she puts children and their learning first. This is regardless of the nationality of the children. Parental complaints are not ignored but final decisions are left with management as they are highly qualified educational professionals. Obviously not all parents agree so decisions cannot be left up to parents.
A great deal of excellent teaching takes place in the school. Academic outcomes are good especially considering that the school caters for mainly non-native English speakers. When comparing schools, students and fees must be taken into account. The school is good value for money and many parents are happy. If parents did not feel that they were getting good value for money they would move their children to other schools. However as in the case of the above writer, parents often weigh up alternatives and decide that the school is the best option.
Regarding staff salaries, yes they are lower than many other schools, but around the same as other similar price-bracket schools. Staff who work hard are generally treated quite well but not always. Teachers who do not perform well are not accepted and that is why many feel they are treated badly.
I find it humorous that the last writer wants the school to be cancelled but has kept children in it for years. Where will you send your children? If you are not happy with the school it is probably much better to take your children out and put them in a ‘better’ school.
Dear mothers I have read your comments and the same problem persist and we are in 2011. the problem is the management in this school. the current principle Margret has the well privilage in showing lack of respects especially for arab mothers as well as the arabic staff in her school. I am sure she cannot be in this bad attitude in her country and I can feel her hate and her disgust feeling towards arbs as second degree human.
the funny thing she passed her position in the school in to one of her relatives!!!!
I cannot believe how the owner Mr. Taleb accept this behaviour from the first line of the staff, even if he consider the school as a commercial project so he must maintain the high quality of his project in order to gain more students in his school.
I have spent five years with them since my son was in KG2 until Year4 and my daughter who started from KG1 and now she is going to year2... you know!! every year they gave me many promises that they will fix the problems and gaps that happened in the previous year, but again it appears with ignoring any complain from the parents.
I have reached the financial coordinator called IHAB and the academic coordinator Kreshna. they are like a gang by making the parents fed up from complaining and complaing.....
But in order to be honest the subjects social and science are covered very well,, but the main problem is English subject although it is international school, I cannot describe the bad situation by words..
I have to advice all parents as well as the teachers who plan to apply in this school to leave it
it has the cheapest salaries for staff as well lack of human rights in managers' treatment against their staff specifically the arabic staff.
I hope you have felt my nightmare in Cambridge International for Girls.
I demand the qatari educational council to cancel this school as it reflects the bad image of the education evolution in Qatar.
Does the Supreme Council of Education really care? I called them once, and I could not get to speak to someone who can speak at least some broken English. Do they at least realise the majority of schools they are supposed to regulate are non-Arabic? I guess not. As long as they are earning good money, leave work early, get longer holidays, why should they care?
All the above is because of failure of proper regulations. The mice(school owners and management) think the cats(you guess) are too fat to care for some game(proper regulations), so they make as much damage(exploitation of parents)as they can while the situation lasts.
bad management that's why good teachers don't stay there maybe
YOUR CASE IS OF SOUR GRAPES!!!!CANT HELP.....
"How does one come to the conclusion that this is an English school?"
Of course name matters!
Cambridge, Oxford, Modern, Ultramodern, Sci-Fi...
I think you need to change schools soon love. If you have been educated in an English system in the past they have failed you badly. Your level of written English is terrible. I don't know how old you are but my special needs year 1's can do better than that.
I doubt very much they have British Trained teachers there at all. It is known as one of the worst schools ever; according to the TES website, Dave’s Cafe, the NUT website and by reputation within the ex-pat community of Teachers.
If there are English 'Teachers' there, they won't be trained Teachers at all.
...im shocked seeing this seriously!!!!
i mean, im a new student in cisg, they do have British teachers know as well as others from different nationalities. its ok school but i think the staff should or mabybe/atleast the rigisterer or maneger should be more kind to visitors or parents...for example to smile at their faces or something!! the first day this year in school i thought it would be nice but i was kinda wrong! i cryed badly!! i commanly hate school(sometimes when im not in the mood) but this scool seemed so diffrent! term 1 is over and my report..i wasnt pleased with it!..it turned out that mestakes were made(many) and i acually got higher marks!!
the girls(students their are acually nice and kind but i still think this scool should improve their system and make more sense!!
i love my father soooo much when he talked to them he freaked them out...know theyre starting to respect me even more!! u should just show them who u are and ull get wat u want!
i think this status makes sense atlast!!
Hi every body,
I just registered my 2 kids in this school. I know it is not the best in Doha. but it is cheaper than others, so it is depand on ur budget, for me and I think all perants looking for the best school and best education, but if the budget not enough what we can do ,, we know how much the schools expensive , this is out of our hands.
if I & my hasband have big big salary I'll choose Doha Collage for my kids.
What to do???
if somebody tells you that cambridge is a good school, then you have to observe why for this person/parent this school is good. please listen what is the criteria and standard of education for this parent..then you decide what you need for your beloved kids. i believe, if u have very high expectation, you will definately ignore cambridge. I have lots of my friends moved their kids out, however still have friends who prefer to keep their kids in cambridge even though they realize the fact that the schools is horrible..they just dont bother much about how their kids' best education, as long as their kids in school now, the name of the school only has already make them proud. poor things!
but heavier on pockets....next is Park House...with long waiting list......Wilson and American School are good...
Don't go to AJA either... behaviour problems and again
another change of management... how many times can a schol change its management and still advertise a professional learning environment. Kids have staff changes termly and mass staff turnover on an annual basis... Good school ...i think not.
I am surprised to see the amount of negative comments here. I was looking for a decent school and one of my colleagues mentioned about Cambridge School for Girls and from his comments it sounded pretty Ok.
A bit off topic, how about Aljazeera Academy?? Does anyone has any advice regarding this?
good info abt Qatar_Cambridge...made in China pun intended ;D
well if your child is not doing well in class, blame the school...
So if its so bad how come parents are keeping their children there?!
I am a mother of a grade one studet of Cambridge International school. and also had my share of frustrating experiences of the school. no system, and the change of teacher is so amazing. now we are looking for another school for my son. the only thing about Cambridge is they have the lowest tuition fee for the supposed "English School" . but I heard that they will be increasing by a thousand again. It's just not worth the savings anymore, compromising the future of my son.
I was shocked to see school boys age between 8 - 12 yrs were smoking openly infront of teachers and other parents,
I fully agree with ahalaa regrading poor management and school teachers....
Also their school buses are outdated (1980's model) and in very poor condition ....
We are also planning to pull our son out after summer holidays.
Just stating the obvious fact of how unsatisfactorily schools are managed when there is a lack of educational imperative and a less than caring attitude. Aggressiveness is born out of circumstances, on the whole. And no, it is not acceptable.
I was a teacher many eons ago. I left when compassion and empathy flew out of the doors of many schools. Funny thing is though, now i'm looking for the same thing for my kids!
I hope thats not saying thats it acceptable for children to behave aggressively at school...you're not a teacher are you?
ahalaa, ever read Lord of the Flies? In an environment where children do not feel safe or secure, they have to build their own defence mechanisms. Sometimes, they 'have' to become aggressive to survive in their environment.
So true about finding the right schools for our children, and not so easy to do!
IS NOT AN ENGLISH school! It is one of the worse schools in Doha. It is Arabic/Indian. So with the Arabs we have low achievers and then we have the Indians that want to be high achievers and who are not. Cambridge school meets NOBODYS target.
How does one come to the conclusion that this is an English school?
I couldnot stand put my kids more than one semester in that horrible school and i moved them last Jan to Compass International School. I want to tell you that teachers there observed that my kids started communicate with other kids very agressively and started to treat this issue (They Have a Real Learning Methodology). My daughter teacher mentioned to me that she observed that all student who are transfered from Cambride School are behaving the same and she is wondering what happens there. Now i can clearly feel the difference in my kids learning level and behaviour as well. Please choose the right school for you sons because they are the real investment for us in the life.
I took my kids out of it after 1 month. And i wonder why are some poeple paying 3 times the fee of an Indian school for worse services.
MagicDragon, Yes I am the father, I'm writing with my wife's profile..........and you point is...? Don't worry so much about peoples profiles.
its indeed very bad school....i went for an interviu in cambridge, and somebody from there stold my mobile phone...most of the teacher are indian and filipino...and they offered me very small salary...3000 ryaly...what u can do in doha this days with 3000 qr? when u have 2 kids...so im sorry, but nice name of the school and bad people
danitati, your concerns are serious. But I think you are not serious. How can you be the "father" of two children when your profile states that you are "female"????
I am the father of two children going to the Cambrige School.
Sadly to say my children have started to come home in unpleasant conditions sweating & fatigued due to the air-conditioning system on the bus not being up to standards.
I have observed the bus when it dropped my children with all its windows open, meaning the A/C was just not cool and you could imagine what condition all the children were on that bus, having the children coming home in that condition increases the chances of them getting sick and missing out on classes which is not beneficial. The other side of having the windows on the bus open is that it jeopardizes their safety, just one sharp turn or push and the children would fall out of the windows.
Reminders were received from the school advising the parents to pay the bus fees on time so that the children would be issued with a pass, otherwise the consequences would be that the child would not be allowed on the bus it also state that it was for the children’s safety.
Well, the bus pass only seem to be to the benefit of the school to see who has paid the bus fees, not for the safety of my children. We were asked to send Photo’s for the bus pass which have not been placed on the card and the most important piece of information which is blood type has not been filled in, now tell me were is the safety in that?
My frustration is we as parents have to go through seeing our children suffering every day on that bus, it also feels that we are on a constant battle to get our points across, I am not asking for much but a safe and comfortable transport service. We need peace of mind while at work knowing that our children are being treated as precious cargo on those buses. The schools bus service is putting the children in an uncomfortable, unhealthy and unsafe situation.
And nothing has changed a year later, who will hear our want. Well for QR 2200 we have hired a great private driver who transport my girls.
This school needs to be looked at all of us should maybe get someone at the Supreme Education Council to come and see what goes on. And the traffic department should make sure that the school buses are suited to transport children.
I don't think the MOE will change any thing, the office for the private school is another story, are you sure they will reply to an email!!!!!!!!!
i felt really sorry about your story, what a mess and the real victims are the kids,
i think MOE should have firm requirements for operating private schools
You can try to reach MoE at following WebSite:
Ministry of Education in Qatar
I could not find the english version of this website but if you can take the help of any arabic friend you may find what you are looking for.
The wise person has long ears and a short tongue.
i didn t continu with this bad school i already pay the inscription fees and whem i came on 1th september to pay the term fees i got the bad ansewer from this impolite lady (she s from sudan) she told me you are late we already finish,i said ok but i need solution now i m here to pay ,she said just see with the accounting....
and it was the last story with them ! realy it s a horrible school with this big name and no body (reception,managment,....)respect this name ... im sorry
Can anybody help me in find a contact to escalate the school to ministry of Eduation. I already sent a mail to the owners with no hope to get even an answer, Owners who leave the school reach to this level, i do not beleive they will be keen to answer parents escalations
I know what you are talking about. My daughter were in Birla for 2 years, it is a real school with very organized committed staff, very strong subjects, so economical fees. I become mad because i am now comparing Cambridge school which is at least Tripple the fees of Birla and i couldnot get 1/10 of the service i used to get from Birla
I have also the bad experience yesterday.
I'm invistigating now how we can complain to ministry of education as I know there is an office for cmplaining about the bad performance and function of private schools.
Ministry of education should follow up this type of schools, it's not allowed to take peoples money and give them back bad answers and management.
that email adres is nonsense, if the principal is not able to solve school problems she have to leave her position for somebody who can.
I hear ASD is good.
My daughter goes to Birla Publi School (BPS) and I am really happy with there services. There staff is more organized (including Administration and Transportation) and the teachers know what kids really need and give right amount of attention to their lacking skills. Atleast this is what I felt after speaking to the Class Teacher for my daughter.
All in all, please don't try to compare education system to that of what you have in your home country. At same time you should also appricate to the pace at which its improving, thanks to "Her Highness". It will take some time for every one to come to the standards, but surly they will improve.
I am really sorry for your horrible experience, I hope you will find the right school for your kids.
The wise person has long ears and a short tongue.
so complain to the school!
Any school can call themselves what they want. I can call my school the Modern Lithuanian School of the Arts - not a Lithuanian or art teacher in sight.
Unfortunately, it's a case of caveat emptor - as a consumer (and you are a consumer) you have some responsibility to do some investigating, especially as this type of thing happens in all areas of education throughout the gulf region. Ask other parents, get recommendations, if possible - visit while school is in session (not always an option I know).
Your naivtee has been taken advantage of, but I don't know of any recourse unless you contact the Ministry of Education with documentation of fraudulant acts and information provided by the school
Hi Ahalaa....I am agreed with your comment. I have two daughters there. And I saw what happened in that school yesterday. And it is totally horrible.
Please PM me the CISG owner email address.
I feel sorry for you, i mean u hear Cambridge and immediately think, wow, english staff, professional learning and so on.
