A real genius will answer this , Wrong equations.. Where on earth it is 9=72..
A QL genius.. he missed 4=12 in his series..the answer will be 3 = 6... which is of course wrong. :)
Conclusion - U dont have to be genius to answer this wrong question as so far in examination what ever you answer for a wrong question you will get full marks. :)
To make it a right equation you have to include characters a b c x y z.. etc

a squared minus a
9 squared is 81 minus 9 is 72
8 squared is 64 minus 8 is 56
.
.
.
so 3 squared is 9 minus 3 is 6.
I stand by my first answer, Janney is right, I mean correct! Lol!

Though for the first time we agreed on the same answer Flor, we have different formula, and mine is complicated. ya know, ladies hehe.
But yeah, imma stick to 3=6

It can be calculated in two ways.
One is:
(x squred minus x)
for eg. (9 squred - 9) = 81-9 = 72
....
..
..
3squre- 3 = 9 - 3 = 6
Otherwise:
x*(x-1)
ie, 9*8=72
...
3*2=6
In both way the answr is 6

its 6.... its deduction of numbers receding by 2 (or proceeding by 2) if you look the otherway round.... all so called geniuses LOL
see below:
9 = 72
8 = 56 (72-16)
7 = 42 (56-14)
6 = 30 (42-12)
5 = 20 (30-10)
4 = 12 (20-8)
3 = ?? (12-6) = 6
2 = 2 (6-4)
1 = 0 (2-2)
Look at the number being subtracted, its deducting by 2 steps in sequence.
