Any doctors around working at HMC as resident? I have applied for residency training program at HMC. Awaiting reply, however, I was wondring what would be the salary to expect and allownaces? Do they offer accommodation to married couples? If not what kind of living allowance they give? Basic salary? How is the training there at HMC?
Your guidance will be appreciated.

@Ahtesham8901 i believe they only accept IFOM or Step 2CK for now, AND they look at the scores rather than your nationality.

And don't go to DOHA HEALTHCARE! You will develope 'Burning Ass Syndrome'
IF THINKING TO COME QATAR, DONT COME TO PRIVATE SECTOR YOU ARE EITHER ENGINEER, DOCTOR, NURSE OR OTHER EXECUTIVE CLASS. PRIVATE SECTOR USUALLY CHEATING, THEY DONT FULLFILLED THE PROMISES THEY DONE. THEY DONT GIVE SALARY ON TIME AND EVEN EAT YOUR GRATUITY AND YOUR END OF SERVICE BENEFITS.
ITS BETTER TO GO SOME OTHER GCC COUNTRY THEN TO COME TO QATAR IN PRIVATE SECTOR. BEFORE COMING EXPLORE ALL OPTIONS AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE COMPANY.
I think coming to Qatar is little risky specialy coming to private sector its either doctor, nurse or executive class. Compare to other place in gulf Qatar is little uncertain place. Usually employee not getting salary on time and on leaving employers are not willing to give the gratuity and other end of service benefits. In my view before taking any risk of coming to Qatar better explore some alternative. and cost of living very high. So be carefull before joining any private sector and once you join, you will not be having much options.

Hi i'm a student and from my friends experince in HMC when you are a resident you get your salary + Acoomendation allowance which mean they give you the money and you find the place however after the 4 years residency you become a specalist in that case only they provide you a number of options for accomendation (villa) and pay for your kids education (from Grade 1 and for 3 kids) but you have to try hard because they prefer the Doctors who was porn and raised in Qatar or at least have family residence permit and good luck :D

I dont understand y you are underestimating Engineer. Do you know Engineer makes the world, and i totally agree that all dr are not working in Hamad.........dont ever underestimate engineer.................by the way what is your qualification and why so you think engineers are lower than doctor....................better get awake from your dream..if still you are sleeping....
I am new here. I am a physician and has 2 years experience as a general physician post MRCP UK . I am interested to work in Doha.I hail from south east asia. I have 2 questions

Hello everybody, i'm new to the site and i am a dentist from Greece and we (my husband and I) thinking about moving to Qatar (he had a job offer). the real question is if I can work there (in a private clinic or something...). and maybe if anyone could give an idea about the salaries...!
I think the point you are trying to make is that engineers have it tuff
you are right, it can be challenging...
but let me tell you doctors don't have it very easy too you know
Just today I gave a lift to a doctor with 7 years experience and her situation was worse than any of the scenarios you have given in your last comment... Not all doctors work in Hamad you know...
You can also see the engineers in remote places like jungles (strictly not for fun i.e. hunting) or near the gas fields or in the middle of nowhere like sea. Sometimes you can even see the engineers standing on the top of the broadast tower, shouting to the person down below not yet to turn on the power (happens when you forget to take the walkie talkie)
Last time I saw an engineer going two kilometres deep inside the sea trying to find the ROV. Since then scuba diving is off my list.
I don't agree with you entirely on that knox... about engineers being paid less...
Everywhere engineers are paid less than the doctors. The best part of being a doctor is that you have a great circle of friends and PR.
And for people like me, you usually see them on QL or on other forums.
This is all I have to say, if you remember what YOU said to me.
And Lolz @ Dare
Not everything is about money, and how dare you post something like this here.
why would the doctors come to Qatar to work unless you are interested in doing charity work. The doctors I met in States and Canada were making loads of money. I am not talking about specialists just plain GPs, General physicians. One doctor I met told me that he was making close two hundred thousand U.S. Dollars every years after all the freakin tax deductions. Thats like 50000-60000 Qatari Riyals per month in Qatar. I guess Dr. Hijazi (the renowned cardiac surgeon and now in Saudi Arabia) used to get about 90000 Qatari Riyals per month.
So seriously guys if you want to live the LIFE and have a True Status in the society, better work in North America.
Middle East is for engineers like us, who wouldnt be making good money back home specially after taxes
As per my view the ranking of professions in North America is
4)Nurses, other health professionals, chiro, radio, physio etc
So you can see where the engineers stand. Anyways You have every right to disagree with my judgement
Does anyone know how i should apply for a residency post in HMC.i.e. whom i should apply through?
Does anyone know the answers to the following too?
a)the salary that i should be expecting as a UK trained doctor with 2 and a half years experience after graduating.
b)details about the paediatric training programme that they offer.
any information will be appreciated
It depends on your Specialization, Experience, qualification, Nationality etc. Are you an Indian Origin Canadian Citizen? Western Citizens get extra allawances. Salary structure depends on your grade.
Can any one enlighten me about salary structure for doctors with qatar petroleum
I am Nenad, physiotherapist from Serbia. Can you give any information about physiotherapy department in HMC.I wish come and work in Qatar and now I am waiting call by recruitment agency from England.I am not Qatari, what is my chances for employment in HMC ? Best wishes, Nenad
hello everyone!! I'm also new here, also interested to know more about the residency programs at HMC... And i have questions similar to those of the ones posted by TANIA. Hi Tania! I hope someone can enlighten us up about this matter... please?? =)
3 months is not long for HMC. Some of my friends at HMC waited 6 months or more after accepting a verbal contract offer.
One of my friends who works at HMC tells me they are having political problems at a high level right now. Some executives are trying to stop any new non-Qatari appointments.
Hope this doesn't cause you a problem.
Hello "Around in 80days"
I assume you are in Qatar right now. I was just wondering, what do you work/teach at WCMC-Q ? (Im a med student at WCMC-Q).
Hi, My name's Tania. I'm new to Qatar Living. Actually I just found out about the residency training program conducted by the Arab Medical Board at Hamad Hospital a couple of weeks back. I was hoping somebody could give me a bit of information about these residencies.
I have got the basics: there's an exam and an interview conducted in August etc... But I looking out for some specific info. Like what chance does an expatriate (South Asian) doctor on a visit visa stand of getting into a residency training program?
Are there any expatriates undergoing a residency training program at Hamad Hospital?
Also does Hamad Hospital prefer not to hire "female doctors on visit visas" into their residency programs. Thats what I heard so I just wanted to clarify.
Please somebody help me out coz right now I am in a dilemma. I don't know whether I should attempt the exams (Hamad Hospital exams) this year!
Waiting for a reply!!!
I have been offered a specialist surgeon job in Al Ahli hospital. Can you please inform about the expected package for this job in this hospital?
hello Dr did u got Official job contract letter from HMC . You didn't gave any good news. We all waiting for Your earliest reply.
Thank you all for the info.I have following querries.Hope you guys will enlighten me over those.
I have been offered(informally) a position as Clinical Associate at HMC about 3 months ago. But I have not received an official job offer from them yet.I contacted them about 2-3 times till now by email and they say- your application is being processed and you will receive offer once this process is completed.
1)Is it normal for HMC to take this long to send offer OR its because of Doha Asian games at the moment?
2)How much time it takes to get a Qatar visa after I accept the offer?
3)When does new emplyoees start working each year, in Jan or Feb?
4)They are offering me 15100 QR Basic + Free acco,air-ticket and other facilities. Is it a fair offer for Clinical Associate position at HMC?
Your valuable advice is much appreciated.
Thank you Jennifer for your inputs. can you please list me the private clinics in Qatar in which my wife can apply a job application?
thank you in advance
HMC WON'T TAKE OUTSIDE DENTIST ANYMORE .THEY ONL TAKE QATARI DNETIST. 80% DENTIST IN RUMAILLAH
HOSPITAL ARE FEMALE QATARI DENTIST. THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR YOU OR OTHER. BETTER TRY IN PRIVATE IN CLINIC.
How to Apply a job application to my wife as Dentist in HMC?
I have checked with a friend doctor at Hamad Hospital, and these are some feedbacks that I gather :
1. HMC plans to become a full fledged Specialist Hospital soon, therefore they don't
take in Residents anymore. Anyway, there is an exception to this...if you're enrolling the "Arab Board" Program, you'll be appointed as Resident. "Arab Board" is a 4-year program to become Specialists.
2. To enroll the Arab Board, HMC together with Weill Cornell Medical College conducts a yearly entrance exam (normally in Sept). In the recent exam, the passing mark was 55.
3. Salary for Resident is about QR 8,200/month (excluding Housing).
4. If you have relevant experience and qualifications, you will either be appointed Clinical Associate/ Specialist/ Consultant.
could you please advise me by answering my question! that would be really appreciated.
I am computer specialist, i got an offer from QP and i will join then in october. I Got family contract. My wife is dentist and will be relocating with me. i am jordanian and my wife is jordanian too but also she has czech passport. can you please tell me if she could find opportunity to work in dental clinic or hospital? and what's the expected salary range for her take into consideration that she has three years experience? if that is applicable, what other benefits can be provided from the employer ( take into consideration she will be living with me). will they pay her housing allowance, transportation,...etc? Please advise as you are the one who can advise in a such conditions.
Thank you in advance.
Residents are not called so any more at HMC, they are now called "Clinical Associates" , that was due to some JCI regulations...which is actually much better for them...i am a clinical associate by the way.
Married clnical associates will signed the so called "Married contract" which entitles you for a fully furnished house (usually villas), plane tickets for wife and three children every year, annual vacation of 40 days.
This package is by far the best package i have seen in the whole GCC countries for such a position.
I'm new to this forum. I'm a doctor from Tunisia and I consider applying for a job in Qatar.
I learned so much about Qatar from this cool website, there's so much useful information but, just like dr S i guess, nowhere could I find something specific about salaries, allowances for doctors, nurses, dentists working at the HMC or elsewhere (private hospitals, Al Ahli, American hospital.
I know it all might depend on the country of citizenship, the degrees... but it could be nice to have at least an idea about what to expect, some raw numbers...
Any feedback from doctors would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, thanx to the user "Dentist" who gave me some very interesting insights about work at the HMC.
Have a nice week end everybody.
Thanks "doctvm" . I am excited. Fingers crossed now. Thanks again.
Thanks "Around in 80 days" and "doctvm" for quick response. Sounds good, fingers crossed now. Thanks again.
i heard that thaey have hiked the salary at hamad so it wont be aproblm for u and also accomdation is provided so cool man enjoy if u get it
I have no idea about the salary, but my real estate agent showed me the new housing for the Asian Games. She told me that after the games, the housing would used for hospital employees. In a guide book, it's listed as Married Dr. Housing. Looked pretty nice. Good luck... I'll be working at WCMC-Q and you may be working with some of our students.
