We are pleased to report that the Government of Canada will be opening a new Embassy of Canada in the State of Qatar. The design and construction work will take place over the next several months and we hope to open in late spring or early summer 2011.
Canadian Diplomatic representatives currently on assignment in Qatar, Chargé d'affaires Gary Luton and First Secretary and Consul Jean-Pierre Paquet, are overseeing preparations for the new embassy and a number of bilateral visits, delegations and events taking place in Doha over the next several months.

Introductions
Hi all,
I started the group a long while back but have been totally inactive in terms of posting anything up (which is obvious since this is the first post).
So we have a few members now so I thought I'd start with some introductions.
My name is Moeed, and I have been in Doha since Jan 2005. Used to live in Toronto and before that Mississauga. Living in Doha with wife and a toddler son has been a challenge but also wonderful many ways.
How about you guys? Where from and how are you enjoying Doha?
