Doha Good Food Guide
Welcome to the Doha Good Food Guide. It's the beginning of a great eating experience!
Add your review, good or bad, of a restaurant you ate at. It's an opportunity to catalogue Doha's eateries, and to use as an unbias reference again and again.
For simplicity and ease of use, a standard format needs to be used for each review.
For example:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
RESTAURANT NAME:
CUISINE TYPE:
(eg. modern, fine dining, cafe, el cheapo, buffet, bistro, indian, thai, japanese, arabic, etc)
THE SCORE:
- ATMOSPHERE:
- FOOD:
- SERVICE:
(use a simple rating system of A, B, C, or F.
A=the best, B=good, C=pass, F=fail/don't go)
LOCATION: (give a landmark aswell)
AVERAGE PRICE: (expensive, moderate, cheap)
ALCOHOL/WINE LIST: (a good selection for those wine connisuers?)
COMMENT/REVIEW: (remember, you get what you pay for, so be fair)
OVERALL SCORE: eg. B+
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Simple eh?
Happy eating everyone, and start your reviewing!!

A Sweet Valentine Delight from my Kitchen

I had the first raw salmon of my life and I survived !
By alma wad on Sun, 28/12/2008 - 10:29amGoing to Oshi Sushi restaurant at Eid proved to be a great choice !As it is a new place at the third floor of the Royal plaza we managed to avoid the crowds .Only four five families were having Eid lunch and it was really relaxing there !The music , the beautifully and simply set table , the bento , the sashimi , the miso , the Japanese curry ... all made me feel as I was in Japan ... it was a reaL ESCAPE .
We were using fork and spoon - but also we were trying to use the chopping sticks .The hot, wet towels were meant to clean our hands before and not after eating .I learnt that only later when I was reading more on the Japanese cuisine !

Paul's Cafe
By alma wad on Sun, 06/01/2008 - 9:46amPAUL'S CAFE
I was very disappointed when I found this cafe closed during Eid . Was there a mouse like at the Carrefour in summer ? I have not heard anything - just I saw with sadness that it was closed due to the municipalities order .
This restaurant cafe is so popular and not without merit .
The service is quick and nice .The decor is vintage style - rustic chairs arranged in casual manner. The cakes are tasty ,old fashioned calorie bombs .
When we asked for a kid's meal -first we were given some tasty bread and butter and tapenade .Then came the chicken sandwich which was described as small in the menu - but actually it was large enough for three kids . The ice cream was OK . The cappuccino was a real ,continental hot drink , not a bucket -but a reasonable cup comme il faut .

AL KHAIMA (22 Sept' 2007)
By Angelo on Sun, 23/09/2007 - 5:28pmMe and a couple of my buddies went for Iftar to Al Khaima (No denying that this is my fav restaurant for grilled arabic food no matter what part of year, time or day.)
They have a buffet from 1730 to 1630 for ramadan at Qrs.60/- per head and booking is in advance.
Juices - Orange tang and some brown coloured sour stuff.
They have lentel soup,
Appertizers - mutabel, hummus, tabule, green salad.
Main course - grilled fish (Can't comment, as I am not much for sea food), grilled chicken, lamb, kebabs, french fries, whole lamb on a bed of rice, half chicken grilled on a bed of rice, beef burgers with dollop of mashed potatoes on a sea of tomato sauce, chicken on some sort of beans.
For dessert - arabic sweets, don't know the names about 8 of them.
