Qatar Finance Professionals (QFP)
Welcome to QFP,
The Qatar Finance Professionals group is open to all friends related to field of Finance, accounting, business tax and general management, both private, government, small, medium and large business. We also welcome new students or less experienced personnel to benefit from others.
You will be creating a strong network with personnel with in same field, discuss day to day work issues, future education, business tax strategies, employee management and job opportunities and lots of others tips

Is anyone else also studying for this qualification and interested in forming a study group to pool knowledge?
CPA Which route?
As you may be aware recently CPA can be completed outside USA, e.g. residents of Doha can give exam either in Bahrain or UAE
Appreciate if you can share your experience positive or negative with regards to CPA. I believe even though CPA form USA has certain specific elements to GAAP and primary for audit firms but in Middle East it is widely regarded and is acceptable for higher jobs.
Also share if you have recommendation on best CPA material that you may have used for preparation and passing CPA.
Please also feel free to share any plus or minus from doing CPA from other countries such as Australia as example

Congrat as we are now close to 300 members in the Qatar Finance Professional Group.
On flip side lately group have been almost dead for which I am also to partially blame.
This is an effort to pump some fresh blood in group and get the activity started, for which I am open to all of your recommendations but request what you purpose please standby behind this towards implementation.
This is an open brain storm thread, please share your toughs what you wish to achieve out of group in terms of mutual benefit to all of us and towards Qatar in general.

Difference between Tax Card & Tax Certificate
Dear QFP Members,
I'm writing with the positive thought of receiving your valued inputs.
Well...here is the story!!
Our Contractors had withheld 5% of contract money to release upon submitting them our Tax Certificate. We filed returns with PRTD and just received Tax Card.
Here comes my question. My friends in business say, submitting the Tax Card will help to get back our retention money. When submitted, clients insist "Tax Certificate" saying Tax Card will not merely solve "Tax Certificate" obligation.
My Tax Auditor denies our client statement and argues that they should release the payment on showing the Tax Card.
Referring The Article (11) Paragraph (2) of IT Law # 21 of year 2009 says..

The Ministry of Labour is putting in place a new system to ensure regular salary payment by companies by making it compulsory for employers to submit copies of their monthly payrolls to the Ministry from next month, it was announced yesterday.
Addressing a press conference, director of Inspection Department under the Ministry of Labour, Engineer Mohamed al-Naimi, said that private companies will have to regularly submit a copy of the payrolls they forward to the bank when remitting salaries of their staff.
“We have created a complete database of private firms working in the country and their staff. Based on this database, we will be watching salary payment and ready to take action against them in case of violations in this regard,” Engineer Mohamed al-Naimi told mediapersons.

Had a bit long day at office, upon entering my home, noticed typically few sales vouchers from companies, normally fast food outlets take the lead but this time saw attached, picked up and as fear the it was filled with name of Allah and Prophet (peace be upon him) and some other Islamic material
Obviously lying on the floor, and just ahead of me the Philippine lady had passed over it,
Took me two minutes to collect 5 - 6 additional vouchers thrown at various places in my place.
While hopefully the sale of this company will increase

and shame on us Muslims and we wonder why we are having troubles from all sides.

I was wondering does any one of your company uses Navision ERP system? If yes, can you give me recommendation on local support in terms of training and some minor design changes company in Qatar

Is March a good time? A seminar in collobration with local school

Possibly if we can speak to principle of school, if they can provide us the venue and potential students for a Saturday seminar and they could invite parents and students.
