Messi confident of Argentina revival
Messi confident of Argentina revival
AFP/Buenos Aires
Argentina have made a poor start to their Copa America campaign with two draws and do not look like a team ready to end a two-decade trophy drought, but they will recover and reach the quarter-finals, insists star Lionel Messi.
World player of the year Messi proved unstoppable all season with a Barcelona shirt on his back but with Argentina he has become a metaphor for the team’s stuttering form which saw the albiceleste drop points to Bolivia and then just scrape another draw with Colombia.

Alves wants Neymar for Barca
Alves wants Neymar for Barca
By Antonio Scorza | AFP – Sat, Jul 2, 2011
Barcelona full-back Dani Alves said on Saturday he would sign his Brazil team-mate Neymar from Santos for the Catalan club if only he had the money.
Neymar, under contract for another four years at Pele's old team, has long been coveted by Chelsea but seems set on staying put in his homeland for now.
However, Alves has other plans for him, as he revealed at the national side's Copa America training camp at Campana in Argentina.
"If I had the money, I'd sign him up for Barca because he's one of the best players in the world right now. And he's a close friend," said Alves.

Brazil 0 - Venezuela 0 - Copa America Group B result
LA PLATA, Argentina (AP)—Brazil was held to a 0-0 draw by Venezuela in the Copa America on Sunday, making a similar lackluster start as host nation and fellow co-favorite Argentina two days earlier. Venezuela, usually regarded as the weakest team in the South American confederation, packed the midfield in the Group B match to snuff out Brazil’s attack. The five-time World Cup winners seldom played like an organized team, relying on the individual talents of stars Neymar, Robinho and Alexandre Pato. “We were unable to finish and lost many good opportunities,” Neymar said.

Chelsea vs Portsmouth (The FA Cup Final)
Today's The FA Cup Final match to be contested by Chelsea, the Premier League champions and Pompey, who have been relegated from the Top-Flight of the English League.Pompey,in spite of their current deplorable situation haven't laid down without a fight, beating Spurs in a trilling semi-final to reach their 2nd final in 2 years.Chelsea are tipped as favourites to win and complete their 1st ever league double, but Carlo Ancelotti and the rest of Chelsea have a lot of respect for Pompey and aren't underestimating them at all
I would say Chelsea will defend the title but would have to put up a strong game.
your opinions are wellcome.

Liverpool vs Chelsea ("The Reds" vs "The Blues")
Today's massive afternoon fixture in the premier league will promise to live up to expectations. If chelsea win today at anfield, they will be champions, but if Liverpool beat chelsea, their quest for fourth place is alive, these two have played a lot against each other especially the last few seasons,i remember the exciting CL meetings from 2004 untill 2008, and in the league as well.
i would say chelsea beats liverpool today, considering their good form, but anything can happen in football.
your views and comments are welcome.

UEFA Champions League Semi-final- Inter Milan vs Barcelona
Tonight will be the 1st leg of the Champions League semi final between Inter and Barca for a place in the final at Madrid, this is obviously the biggest match of this season's semi final, the excellent form that Inter have been this season, not to mention milito and etoo' who are in blistering form lately,i personally hope and wish INSHAALLAH that Inter beat Barca at the san siro where they have never lost any game this season and then at the camp nou,i know it won't be easy beating barca but mourinho has come up with a master plan to stop messi and xavi and deploy man to man marking on the rest of barca,i hope his plans work, your views and predictions are wellcome.

Sol Champell Returns To Arsenal
Souce: www.goal.com
Arsenal have bolstered their rear-guard with the free transfer of veteran defender Sol Campbell, 35, according to Goal.com UK sources.
An Arsenal source told Goal.com UK: "Nothing has been been confirmed yet, but It will happen, probably in the evening. When the finer details have been ironed out between the two parties, we will put an official statement up and let everyone know accordingly."
Campbell, a free agent following his brief spell at League Two outfit Notts County, spent five successful years with the Gunners after Arsene Wenger acquired the player on a Bosman deal from local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

A gambler has told an internet forum how he lost more than £4,000 backing Angola to win their African Cup of Nations opener against Mali when they were holding a 4-0 lead. The crazy fool, who calls himself Big Matt on the FM-View forum, claims to have put £4,400 on Angola to win in the 78th minute when they were coasting to a 4-0 victory.

10) What if Tim Howard hadn’t fumbled against Porto in 2004?
Manchester United were cruising into the quarter-finals of the 2003/04 Champions League as they led Jose Mourinho’s Porto 1-0 in their second round second leg clash at Old Trafford. Then, in the last minute, goalkeeper Howard fumbled a harmless free-kick and Costinha dispatched the rebound to send Porto through and Mourinho charging down the touchline. Porto would go on to win the Champions League.

Man Utd vs AC Milan (Champions league)
United are set to face milan in the last 16 of uefa champions league.
Just wanted to know your opinion, what do you think? who is going to make it to the 1/4 Final?
- What are your predictions?
especially now that milan are in good form again and so is Ronaldinho, who is claiming that he i better player now then he was at Barca.
I personally think (and wish) United will beat them, 1-1 at sansiro and 2-1 at old trafford.
Cheers
Have a good day.

Qatar Football league kicks off tonight (Gharafa, Sadd start as favourites)
Defending champions Al Gharafa and runners-up Al Sadd start as the big title favourites in the second editon of Qatar Stars League which kicks off tomorrow. The country’s top 12 clubs compete under proper home and away format, adopting new rule that allows them to field only four foreign players at a time.
Al Gharafa will have a league hat-trick on their mind when they begin their title defense with a match against Al Khor. Before that Al Rayyan host Qatar Sports Club in the opening match of this season.
Al Gharafa, coached by Marcos Paqueta, won championships in the past two seasons. Paqueta has since moved to rivals Al Rayyan, with another Brazilian Caio Junior taking charge of the Al Gharafa hot seat.

Maradona's Cigar Blamed For Igniting Hotel Fire Alarm That Distracted Chelsea
Sky Sports broadcasters announced during the Chelsea and Manchester United game yesterday afternoon that their morning rituals had been disrupted due to a fire alarm and consequent evacuation at their hotel; one that Chelsea players and staff also used.
It has been suggested by The Daily Mail today that the fire alarm could have been set off due to Argentinean national coach Diego Maradona's cigar smoking!
An eyewitness is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I saw most of Chelsea outside shivering. It wasn't the best preparation for a vital game."
The players, and indeed all occupants at the hotel, were apparently kept out in the cold for up to 40 minutes at around 07:00 GMT.
