NG Kerk

Are there enough NG Kerk members to justify a "gemeente"?. I prefer my own way of worship and would welcome this. Please comment and let's see if we can get one going. I'm personally not really comfortable with the non-demominational Places of Worship. Maybe still a bit conservative.

I am personally willing to dedicate time to this if there is a real interest.

D.I.Y-biltong!!!

You will need:
• 2 kg roasting beef.(Silverside, Topside or such)
• Roughly ½ cup of brown vinegar.
• About ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce.
• Some good quality rock salt. About a cup should do.
(Not normal coarse salt or sea salt!)
• About ½ cup of soft brown sugar.
• Freshly ground black pepper.
• Roasted ground coriander.(a very important spice in
Biltong so be liberal!!)
• A teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, especially if
venison or a lower grade of meat is used.

So maak mens: (in Solly Philanders voice)
• Mix the vinegar and the Worcestershire sauce.

• Dust the meat with some pepper, the bicarbonate of

• Sprinkle a little of the coarse salt and sugar on the

MUGABE IN HEAVEN
Mugabe dies and goes to heaven. When he gets there, St. Peter tells him that he is not on the list and he does not belong in heaven.
Mugabe must go to hell.So Mugabe goes to hell where Satan gives him a hearty welcome and tells him to make himself at home. Then Mugabe notices that he left his luggage in heaven and tells Satan, who says "No problem, I'll send a couple of little devils to get your stuff.
When the little devils get to heaven they find the gates are locked St.Peter is having lunch - and they start debating what to do.

Snow in South Africa

While we are boiling in Doha, our families back home are freeeeeezing in the snow! It must have been a wonderful sight to see the country covered in white.

The Mail and Guardian has a photogallery of user-submitted photos of the snow. They also have a very cool map with photos mapped to places in the country where it snowed!

Qatar Visas for South Africans

Is it just me or is it just painful to try to get a visit visa to Qatar for your family? My parents are over 60 and it all seems like an uphill battle trying to get a visa for a mere 2 weeks so my folks can visit here.

The South African Embassy has been promising for years that they would do something about this...

Anyone have any tips or tricks to get around this?
