Blackberry in Qatar : Announcement, Demand and Pricing
Q-Tel last week announced the launch of the Blackberry in Qatar. The Blackberry will be available to both corporate customers who can install an enterprise server and individual users who can use it to check their POP3 accounts.
Owen was the first to announce the availability of the Blackberry and the price of the Blackberry phones and service in Qatar.
Demand for the phone should be high. As one blogger wrote
"Even though the pricing is probably going to be ridiculous, most corporate IT departments are going to be rushing to sign up for the service to placate senior managers (I mean, can you really be taken seriously in Qatar if you’re seen at a coffee shop in Qatar with only last months $1000 phone on the table).
Qatar residents have been asking "do Blackberry phones work in Qatar as far back as August 2006 and have been wondering when it would launch in exactly one year ago.

hmm ...A lot of firms have been roaming their blackberrys from dubai. If I needed to set up a blackberry for a senior manager, and the choice was etisalat or qtel, I know which I'd go for.
This morning, Qtel had a "planned outage" of the GSM network for five hours. Chumps.

hi BB 8310 doesnt have any problem with e-mail. make sure you have already subscribed for BIS or BES service provided by your operator.
if your company having BES server outside country, you cannot access it if you just have BIS service on your phone.

[AT]harsha, you can get .../-a-t-/harsha, you can get mobinet service from qtel actually for unlimited acces connection from your handphone. for price i don't know. but maybe around 200 QR (??). from my experience it stable... not like mozaicmob connection, because it bypassing proxy wap gateway.

i'm a frustrated BB user courtesy our local service provider!!!
i got my unit (8820) from it activated almost 2 months from STARLINK- The Mall. I followed the instructions given to me by the STARLINK lady to activate my service, but got no response. I contacted Q-tel regarding the service and they were totally in the dark about the service. then they diverted me to 8008000 or something and these guys told me i need to send this-&-that letters, which i did & finally got a msg sayin the service has been activated. i configured 2 of my mail accounts on the unit, but only receive some mails on my BB.
now i'm stuck with a bulky mobile fone & i dont like that 1 bit!!!

any idea y this might b happening?
any assistance would b highly appreciated.

They just wanna lay back, do nothing, pass the buck to someon else and make easy mullah!
The best customer service I have received from these agents is, "you need to call another number..."

For Turbo ( configured 2 of my mail accounts on the unit, but only receive some mails on my BB.) ---> perhaps you have configured some account with incorrect data. just got to http://qtel.blackber... to set your mail account.And please note Using POP3 / IMAP protocol when registering your mail sometimes make your mail didnt arrived at the BB. it is because Blackberry System will poll e-mail every 15 minutes only (cannot be changed) from every mailbox you’ve registered.If you set your mail client ( i.e outlook ) to retrieve e-mail every 10 minutes, then your blackberry only capable to retrieve mail that received at last 5 minutes ( minutes 10 – 15 ). I hope that explain the problem.To avoid this things, you can always close your mail client completely ( terminate also your mail client module if it is running on the background ) if you want blackberry retrieve the e-mail. or Change send receive setting in your mail client into 30 minutes interval. And for first time synchronization, make sure you empty all your mail in WEB mailbox. and please set your OUTLOOK send& recieve interval into 30 minutes.

Lock the hardware ( you can unlock it by contacting any crackers ) 2. Linked BB PIN in operator BB system ( here, you cant do anything except ask origin operator to delete your PIN in their system )

Blackberry Pearl ...I just got back from US and bought a new blackberry pearl, I found it very difficult to use and especially to text. The way the keyboard is displayed with two letters per key as opposed to a regular phone which has three letters per key or the other blackberry (curve) that has one letter per key. Anyway, I returned it and got an easier phone to use, I never could connect to the internet, found the software to upload my pictures to my computer etc, complicated and altogether it was not user friendly. Sorry my opinion and I am not a technical wizard but I have not had these problems with other phones.
I bought my daughter the Blackberry curve, she is a student and loves it!

answer : SOME OF BB support for WIFI. but you cant retrieve mail into your BB using that WIFI.

I got a Blackberry and later found I could not register with BIS as it said already activated.

Hi, i'm not QTEL person. but ...Hi, i'm not QTEL person. but as long as i know, Blackberry subscription in many operators already include Internet Browsing Service using BB Browser. Also you can subscribe for MOBINET ( unlimited ).
However, if you wanna use it while roaming, you have to pay extra charge ( that expensive ) because you will use foreign network to attach while browse the internet.

I own a Blackberry Curve ...I own a Blackberry Curve 8900 (unlocked from T-Mo USA). Currently its on the regular QTel prepaid SIM (no data, except GPRS). How do I get it on a data plan? Preferable Etisalat as recommended by some users above.

I just arrived in Doha from UAE and am trying to use my Etisalat Blackberry with a pre-paid QTEL SIM, but I can't even get phone service working. I get a message "invalid SIM Card" QTEL personnel give me blank stares when I ask questions. Can someone advise? I'm just trying to get the phone to work not email or web.

horrible horrible blolb berry 8900 ...i bought this blackberry 8900, am suffering from it! am a nokia E95 & E51 user and this damn blackberry thing seems like something from the stone ages! it frustrated the hell out of me!
i really dont understand the frenzy about it, i mean i got wifi in the office, at home, and almost in the car, why do i need my black berry to go gring grin at the middle of the night just to tell me i got mail? and the browsing is just awful.
the only thing i found appealing in my blob berry is that it had texas holdem poker, and even that somehow disappeared from my unit!!!!
anyway i ended up breaking it and getting it replaced free of charge from the provider :D now i am trying to sell it or give it to my sworn enemy to torture him with it!

You have to enable blackberry service from Qtel ...You can contact Qtel to enable the blackberry service on your SIM.
Next step,
your mail provider should enable blackberry service on your Mailbox (Email). If it support POP3 it will work on Blackberry.
How to configure on Blackberry?.
Log in to your BlackBerry Web Client account.
2) Click ‘Profile’ along the top of the ‘Home Page.’
3) Click ‘other email accounts’ in the ‘Email Accounts’ section of your profile.
4) Click ‘Add Account.’
5) Enter the information for your Email account.
* Email Address: Enter your full email address (Ex: including ‘/-a-t-/gmail.com’).
* User Name: Enter your username (Ex:including ‘/-a-t-/gmail.com’).
* Password: Enter your email password.
* Re-enter password: Re-enter your Email password.
6) Submit.
It will do..
