Buying real estate in Doha

Is this a good time to buy real estate in Doha? The Pearl is out of my league but the ZigZag towers may be a better deal. I would buy real estate in Canada but the taxes (30%) scare me away. What other countries are stable enought o buy property?
Since I'm probably leaving Qatar in a few months, would now be a good time to buy?

You'll definately make ...You'll definately make money in Doha, it has the second highest profit margin in the world (city wise) in regards to real-estate.
All I know is that when I bought an apartment in the ZigZag for around 1m, people said "are you stupid? It's too expensive) and now it's worth 2.2m
The bubble isn't going to burst for another 4 years.
If we get the olympics that'll only help the real estate market.
The Zigzag is a great investment because it's so close to the future metro. Few people realize this.
I wouldn't go for Damac's new properties in Lusail because they are WAY to expensive and they'll be slammed down soon by their greed. (they're already suffering in Dubai).
Try to get a place at the Piazza or Paradise (Lusail), or I'd go for the ZigZag towers.
OR
Go for on of the new releases in Tower 31 in the pearl. It's 1.9m for a 1 bedroom but you pay 20% and the rest on completion (which is end of 2009 and I say it'll be mid 2010)
If you want to go for a market that'll make you money, is less riskier, but lower profit margin, then I suggest Bahrain.

Whoami ...The capital gain in Doha when you sell (for a non-national), is all yours? or is there a holdback by the state? Has anyone checked with a lawyer if there's any fine print?

[AT]Moudir, I am a lawyer. .../-a-t-/Moudir, I am a lawyer. (And I specialize in Contract Law)
In respect of reselling a property, you transfer ownership onto the buyer. What you sell is the money you receive, simple as that. Nothing is held back by the state.
With the property you also pay a yearly maintanence charge and get a residents permit (both of which move onto the new buyer).
/-a-t-/Bogster, To put things into perspective, a 1.8m loan spread onto 30 years costs around 14k a month.
Average rent for a 2 bedroom is 16k since this is a premium apartment. Your rent pays off the mortgage until you sell it.
IF, however you plan to live in it, especially for a long period rather than consider it an investment, then take a mortgage spread at a shorter period and for a lower amount.

Rent paying it off ...Rent pays the mortgage off IF the projects are completed. Is the ZigZag or Pearl ready for occupancy?
Until then, the mortage payments are all yours (without help from rent).
