Recipes website for expatriates

Amanda's picture

I've recently built a website devoted to expat cooks/cooking etc

It's working great, but I have an issue involving an error in 'line 1, character 1. I was wondering if anyone on here has experience of "Joomla" which is CMS - a Content Management System, that might be able to point me at the reason for this error showing? (I'm using Joomla version 1.0 and a rockettheme.com template if thats any help)

My career before I went 'expat' was totally in the design based sector of web management and all this coding thing is a bit of a mystery to me that I'm getting to grips with on an hourly basis.

Also, if anyone wants to submit recipes the site is www.expatcooks.com (careful how you type 'cooks') - The site has been up for a matter of days but in coming weeks and months, I want to add country/region specific sections with restaurant reviews, guides, shopping tips. Qatar will be the first added obviously. Its a NON profit site at the moment, and no chat forum is (or likely to be) added.

Thanks again :)

I should have put in the original post, I would also love local input, although its an 'expat' title, I think it would be great to have people from the host countries adding recipes, especially ones that have been handed down through the generations. If anyone has a recipe for Umm Ali (sorry if its spelt wrong) I know my husband would appreciate it.

Mis-Cat, oh yes please. I'm a pretty good cook but my food comes from the 'Just picked up off the floor' school of presentation and any tips I have usually are 'dont cut yourself'

Hey Novi :) how's that boy?

Darude, donation of what? not my programming skills, the sites been up and down more times than a yoyo this week, I wont even go into the gory details of how I wiped the entire site from my server O.O

Off out to buy some dishes now, ingredients to test some recipes, and a book on 'photography' so that my food doesnt look like those family snapshots with the heads cut off and everything out of focus.

Well, it's now going great guns, I've added an 'events' calendar, which is specific to Qatar at the moment, also a 'foodie forum' for members to ask for recipes, give tips etc. It's had 1600 unique visitor hits since I put the counter on it 15 days ago, so I'm chuffed.

But, as I'm cooking and testing every day, my family are starting to put on weight, so would appreciate anyone joining and adding some new recipes :)
