A Very Good Afternoon to everyone reading this...

As You all know, that QL [C] Cricket Group is been taking a NAP due to extreme hot weather and Holy Seasons, and with a view to reawake the sleeping souls and bring back that Steam and Full Throttle Engergy, I'm quite delighted to announce that we would have a Match under normal playing conditions back under the Sun but this time only thing being its a bit Colder in the mornings or Afternoons out there...!!!

Venue: QCA Cricket Grounds, Westbay.

Some points to remember (on a friendly note I add):

1) Please leave the Team Management and Team Selection to the Captains and Vice-Captains of the respective Teams.

2) As always, lets try to Have fun but at the same time, that Killer Attitude on the Field.

3) Please remember, that we all have to Enjoy each other's company, and we are there to make new friends and also Play the Game we Love!!!

4) Apart from that, nothing much as you are all pretty much professionals on the field and off the field and lets have a game of Cricket Filled with a lot of Fun, Frolic, Humour, and also the WINNING SPIRITS...!!!

CAN WE HAVE SOME CHEERLEADERS PLEASE, COME ON LADIES...SHOW US SOME SPIRITS WILL YA...MEANIES...LOL!!!

Finally we are meeting at PITSTOP sharp at 4:00pm.

I kindly request all the QL Volunteers to be there on Time i.e. Sharp 3:00pm, since we need to do lots of packing stuff. Once we are ready with the packing we will make 4 groups and then we will all move to our distribution points accordingly.

Kindly note that we will start the distribution of 'Iftar' packets at 5:15pm.

Hello Hello Everyone!!!

Looks like we have missed out on some action from the QL [C] Cricket Groups...

Sorry people, but the HEAT OUT THERE Is too much and we werent able to find a suitable place to play under lights...

But now, we might have found ourselves a ground:

This will be a Cricket Fiest that QL has never seen before...

The whole action will be played under lights and there will be a cost to this which will be informed pretty soon and the logistics this time will need to be taken care of more importantly cos we dont want anyone to get De-Hydrated...

This time I on behalf of the 2 Administrators Khanan and Johnny, am Inviting a Third Team from QL to hop in...

So it will be like this...

We'll be having 3 teams so EVERYONE WILL GET A PLACE TO PLAY AND A TEAM TO PLAY FOR!!!...

And we'll be having a 12-Over a Side Game to fit in all the 4 matches on 1 Day!!!rather 1 afternoon- Evening...

Its going to be great fun and fair and frolic...we'll see depending on the response try to have food and drinks and we NEED EVERYONE TO BE THERE TO SUPPORT US UNDER LIGHTS, (mainly you lazy azzes...LOL)

Stanford reveals US$100 million deal

Antigua-based billionaire Allen Stanford has confirmed that he will be investing US$100 million in a series of Twenty20 matches over the next five years which will make England and West Indies players among the highest paid in the game.

The deal, announced at a slick media conference at Lord's, will centre on five US$20 million games between England and a Stanford All-Stars XI, drawn from the Caribbean, at his purpose-built ground in Antigua. The first of these will be held on November 1, Antigua Independence Day, before England head to India.

"I see the Stanford 20/20 as a fantastic opportunity for current players in the Stanford 20/20 tournament to take a giant leap into the spotlight and gain exposure to top class opposition," Stanford said. "The Stanford 20/20 for 20 [million dollars] will be a highly anticipated event, not just because of the prize money, but because of the traditional friendly rivalry that exists between England and the West Indies."

"The winner goes home happy, the loser goes home unhappy. We had to create something that had never been done before and take cricket to the previous level in the Caribbean, we've not been running our sport at a professional level."

There were concerns with the winner-takes-all format proposed by Stanford but those seem to have been resolved. A deal will mean that if England win, each of the XI will receive US$1 million, the rest of the squad share US$1 million, and the management team splits another US$1 million. The remaining US$7 million will be shared between the ECB and the West Indies Cricket Board, regardless of the outcome of the match itself.

The sums exceed those available for all but the top-paid players in the IPL, and, for the England cricketers, will also come on top of their existing ECB central contracts.

Giles Clarke, the chairman of the ECB, brushed aside suggestions the deal was pandering to the players in light of the distractions offered by the IPL. "I'm not seeing a great deal of worry in the dressing room about finances and we are not trying to appease them," he said. "It gives them a chance to perform under pressure and to make money beyond the dreams of some of their predecessors."

Stanford initially offered South Africa a winner-takes-all match in 2006 but their board declined. A similar offer to India, with a bigger pot, was also dismissed.

Aside from the five matches, it is reported that Stanford will put up US$9.5 million a year for five annual quadrangular events to be held in England from next year. England and West Indies will always be involved in these.

Hello to all the members, non-members, players, non-players and most importantly to the Cricket Enthusiasts...

first up, I would like to thank everyone who have supported this motion of QL Cricket...

Just a few points that I thought would help us have some good games...

An Important Announcement before all...

To cater to the Strong Summer of Qatar that is headed our way, I announce that from hereon, all the future matches will be played under flood-lights in the evening sessions of the Weekend so as to save everyone of US from the HEAT!!!

Next, I would like all the players interested in playing this game, to please out down their Summer Schedules rather their Availability for the matches during the Summer Vacation!!! This has to be done on a top priority please!!!

To the Females/ Ladies of QL who have shown interest in the game I have something for you:

Ladies, I know some of you have played this game earlier and some of you still enjoy playing it, for you very near and dear Ladies of QL, I would urge that we need a little bit more time in actually seeing some more ladies show interest in coming out and playing the Game with the Ladies...because off-late Ladies Cricket in Qatar has been picking up on a fair scale...and I would really want to out forward a team of ladies from QL, who will go ahead and take part in the Qatar Ladies Cricket League, we can work on the Logistics but some more players are needed...

From now on, I would like to suggest that only those players will be considered for a team-selection who actually manage to post atleast 1 single comment in the Match-Specific Related Threads atleast 1 day before the match. This is being done so as to ensure, visibility, transparency and the element of being Fair to everyone who wants to play the game...there is no such rule that only 2 teams can play, if we have more number of players, then Im ready to have a third team as well, as of now, we are waiting on that...

Dear people, please remember that, I'm open for any suggestions so please if any of you have any, just send them across to me or put them down in here...so I can have a look and try and implement them!!!

We need to take this forward and hopefully by next year, we need to start walking our path of the vision to represent QL at a Qatar Cricket League very soon and fight out the better ones, to get to being the BEST!!!

Asif held in Dubai

Mohammad Asif, the Pakistan fast bowler, has been detained by authorities in Dubai on suspicion of possessing drugs. The fast bowler, who tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone nearly two years ago, was held back by airport authorities on Sunday. According to a PCB official already in Dubai, no charges have yet been brought against Asif, though he remains in the detention centre at Dubai International Airport.

Though another senior PCB official, confirming the news of Asif's detention to Cricinfo earlier, had said that the substance was suspected to be either hashish or opium, Nadeem Akram, a senior board official who is in Dubai handling the case, said officials had not yet identified what the substance is.

"It has been sent to a lab for testing but we do not know yet what it is," Akram, in Dubai since Sunday, told Cricinfo.

Akram also stressed that Asif hadn't yet been arrested and that he had been detained. "No charges have been brought yet. We have a lawyer here and he is due to meet the public prosecutor at 12.30pm Dubai time. We will know more about the case after their meeting."

Akram has been in constant touch with Asif, who was understandably "shattered" by the events, but maintained that he did not know what the substance was and had been carrying it in his wallet for several months.

Earlier, a PCB official told Cricinfo that Asif "has been held since the day before yesterday in Dubai. So far the authorities haven't told us much but that it is on suspicion of possessing a contraband item." Dubai's laws on drug possession and use are among the strictest in the region, though the top hierarchy of the PCB has always enjoyed close ties with leaders in the United Arab Emirates.

The Pakistan board was to hold a press conference about the issue in the afternoon but decided to push it back till 4.30pm (PST), presumably to wait and hear developments from the meeting between Asif's lawyer and the public prosecutor.

Asif, along with Shoaib Akhtar, tested positive in an internal dope test conducted by the Pakistan board in October 2006. He was initially banned for one year, though the ban was overturned on appeal a month later. Since then, one of the most promising fast bowlers on the world circuit has been dogged by a long-standing elbow problem. The injury had already taken the sheen away from a prodigious start to his international career and this new development is likely to do so even more.

First of all, a Big thanks to all the players who came in on Friday Afternoon!!!

Second, a small mention to those players who didnt turn up inspite of telling they would, well please guys ensure that it doesnt happen again...

Third, thanks to those guys who were present on the ground inspite of not knowing whether they would be able to play or not and eventually filling up the places...

Alright, after all this,

A Round of Applause and Congratulations to Johny and TEAM B for putting up a fighting comeback to level the series...

The match started off on time at 1515hrs...and

Toss: Team B, Elected to Bat ! ! !

The match started off with some heavy hitting by TEAM B's opening pair who had put on till I remember at the run rate of about 10 or 11 per over...O my I tell ya ! ! !

Team A's bowling was not upto the mark, fielding was absolutely disgusting not to mention the LEAST OF ANY STANDARDS! ! !, and TEAM B was just ramping on that weak points of TEAM A. This time however Team B did look more positive right from the word GO...their batsmen looked like they were out on a job there to seriously take REVENGE!!!

I dont know the names of TEAM B so I would not be able to put up some of the names, but however, the opening batsmen was I think quite rollicking and put us to the back seat right from the first ball of the match pretty much!!!

In Team A, however there were some spirited performances in the Bowling Department: 666 had brought in a lot of pace and good variety to control the run flow, KSA had also tried to stop the run flow, and there was Zohebonline whose presence is become more and more important...

The overall score of Team B:

End of 16 Overs: 157 / 7

Then it was the second innings:

TEAM A: Were going at pretty much a slower run rate than the required...

One mistake which I wouldn't mind accepting to my team is that Batsmen at No. 3 (Soft2007) He was the WALL of the team yeah, but guess that wasnt the right position to bring in a player who is more of a solid defence types rather than an attacking player...actually I hinted at calling DaRude but he didnt get his lazy azz up and thats why Soft2007 had come in...but thats alrite...anyways...

I was dead tired to get my azz batting...lol!!!

But anyways away from all this...

TEAM A had tried to put up a fight when Zohebonline and Fayyaz had gone into bat, but unforunately by that time it was pretty much too late...and the match had already slipped from our hands...

Overall, it has to be mentioned, that TEAM B's bowling and fielding was much more superior to that of TEAM A...

However having mentioned that, I think it is worth also to mention that TEAM A had put up a fight but in the end went down...to the MIGHT OF TEAM B...

A special thanks to those guys who had brought in refreshements and the equipment for the players...

In a Hot and Humid day I had realized that it was inded taking a toll on all our guys at the ground...but still great job guys...LOL!!!

So yeah there you go,

Congrats to TEAM B for a much better performance on Friday and taking the match away from us...(We would have got you but just missed the bus a little...)!!!
