Nursery? good idea or bad

My youngest if 1-1/2 yrs and recently we have been discussing if we should send him to nursery when he is like 2 years.
My wife stays home so its not a must for us to send him to daycare.
What has been ur experience with daycares. Does it help or just wastage of money.

Good idea ...I would say it is a good idea as it prepares the child to school, enables the child to socialise and become less hsy. Down side to it is gettig sick from time to time.

Let the child enjoy ...Since the child is just 1-1/2 yrs, I recommend not to send to the day care. It's better for the mom and the child be together. This way, both of them enjoy their momentum.
And ofcourse, I see mother as a first school of a child.

I has sent my eldest to ...I has sent my eldest to nursery when he was 3, while my second one did not go. I didin;t notice any dfference in terms of their earning capabilities or adjusting in school. Have also come across some media reports that show negative influence of nurseries/daycares.

On teh otehr hand some people speak very highly of few nurseries.

Yes I agree ...he's too young. I have waited til mine were older as then they could tell me what went on during their day.

under 2 1/2 is too young in ...under 2 1/2 is too young in my opinion, unless they can communicate their needs properly, its too young. However it also depends on the child, some are ready nursery and some are not. You could always trial it when the time comes and decide then, if your child isnt ready or enjoying it, you can take them out, you have nothing to loose..

Learning to socialize ...Play school is excellent. It teaches them new things, like other kids, interacting, songs, toys etc. You do not have to put them full time. Just 2 mornings is fine.

Definately go to nursery! ...Definately go to nursery! Its a bloody nightmare with a 2 year old 24 hours a day! You will both need time out! Mine went to nursery from 5 months old, through necessity, but I wouldn't hesitate to send your son as soon as possible. If not for your wifes' sanity!...

supernurse, my wife will not ...supernurse, my wife will not take her eyes off him for a second. i can only convince her to send him to nursery if i show her some positive effects of nursery on learning, socialising etc.

Hapy ...do not be in such a hurry. Do some research. At such a young age a child needs to be with their mother more than they need to learn socialization. In fact, they do not socialize very much at all at this age. If your wife is not wanting the baby to go to nursery and you can afford to have her home, let her decide. I am an educator with 4 children and only sent them to nursery when they were 3 or 4 years old. Before then I simply arranged occasional play dates with others, mommy & me classes, etc.

I agree with you deedee, 3 ...I agree with you deedee, 3 is the best age, tihs is when they need/want interaction with other kids and they are able to commincate their needs....Playgroups and playdates are an excellent substitute..

Yes i also advice not to ...Yes i also advice not to hurry and take your time and make many research on nursery's in qatar.
and if your child is ready to go to nursery cause at this age he needs his mum next to him and i see if you don't need to work don't send him now you can play with him allthe time and give him more than what they will give him at the nyrsery

thanx people ...for replies, i guess 3 is probably the right age.

what?! they should be at ...what?! they should be at school at 3! mmmm I'm not convinced, young children need to be able to socialise and learn social skills......In my opinion, when it comes the time for the child to be separated from the mother it'll be hell for both of them!........
